No tears shed. This **** has been ridden hard, and hung up wet. Getting very good at making a small fortune in racing by starting with a large fortune.

Have to pull the head to see if there is damage in the valve train. Either dropped a valve, or lost a rod. If the valve train is fine, then the rod let loose. My bet is on the rod. Chad and his team rebuilt my valve train with race worthy equipment, so I find it hard to believe that that was the culprit. Regardless, gotta pull the head. Leaving for Las Vegas next weekend, so this is several weekends off.

Had I not just put $10,000 into this car to make it better, that would have been considered. Me, and this American Made POS are glued at the hip.

Have you considered a sideline, hijacking trucks on the highway? That would pay for a new engine and more.

I have time now, need help. I also now have a full set of air tools more than willing to work on it

Thanks Marcus. Leaving for Las Vegas next Saturday. Those following two weekends are gone. I too, have a compressor and at least an impact wrench. :D

Yeah, you and the man who first said it. . . Briggs Cunningham in TIME Magazine, April 26, 1954 (or 61 years ago).

He raced under several marques (OSCA, Maserati, Cunningham, etc.) and his team's 1960 Corvette (#3) was the first Corvette to win at LeMans. Hopefully Team Corvette can emulate Briggs and his boys next weekend.

That's hotrodding in a nutshell. Ya make one part stronger and the weaker parts start breaking. BUT....that should never have happened to that short block. Speaking of short block, ....see if your sponsors with spring for a new one, and you can't be back on the road pretty quick. vroom vroom vroom!

Will have to check with them on the cost, but I get my parts at cost. Ain't nothing free in this endeavor. Cylinder #1 spark plug looks like the headless horseman.

.net looks like the block is about $3,100. Gotta see if the piston or valve traing got fluffed up.

Hmmmm.....wonder if your dealer would make a "warranty" claim?

that used to happen all the time in the 60s when they used to warranty drive trains for 5 year/50K miles. Guys would buy an L88 or L35 and race it on the weekends, blow it up, and get a new motor from Gm. Shortly thereafter they stopped giving warranties for high horsepower motors.

That is odd to crack a block like that. I was thinking maybe there was contaminant in the bolt hole before the studs went in but generally studs only go in finger tight. There is also a water jacket between. Every dead LS7 I have seen dropped a valve, this is the first I have seen with a non-valve related block issue.

EDIT, just noticed those weren't pics of your engine.
