I'm pulling together some top peeps to do some paying gigs starting in July. We will not rehearse. Just suit up, show up, get paid.
We may promote that it's "improv" blues (as if there is any other kind) but in reality, I'm surrounding myself with seriously good guys. No need to rehearse. We know this style.
Biggest challenge will be for me to memorize a couple sets of tunes (about 25).
I'll be musical director, singer and guitarist. We'll start with guitar, bass and drums and later add horns.
Not going to play very often - maybe every eight weeks. Want to make it an occasion. Bands that play all the time don't pull as big of crowds. People just flake out because they know they can see that band anytime. So they skip it.
Word is out I'm requiring suits. Nobody is scared yet.
The best part is introducing ourselves to each other in front of the crowd.
"Hey, we just met. Let's burn this place down..."
