I drove to San Diego this morning for a JBA Cars & Coffee display. Lots of Mustangs,
We had about 7 Vettes, 5 Cobras (Replicas) and a Monster Miata with a 5.0 Mustang Engine. We had fun,
went out to breakfast, I went to the base PX and bought some new shirts and shorts and decided to go for a
twisty run to Idyllwild.

I drove back on the I-15N, 79 East and humped on the 371. Perfect day for a run. Last night I cleaned up DRM and
once I got to top I remembered that I had my camera in my jacket and snapped some picts. http://www.xjtalk.com/images/smilies/camera.gif

Dark Red Metallic, if the sun is out you see the Metallic. The Dark Red comes out at sunset and looks BiTCHeN!!

This one, I waited 20 minutes for a cloud to cover the sun:

Clearly this pictures keep telling me that the best wheel for a C4 is 17". They look good but, to big for my taste.
The new GS wheel is out. I'll check on that one. Shame that the sawblades wont fit my Vette (C5 Brakes),
the chromed saw-blades looked awesome on my 92 DRM Vert.

I think those wheels are cool. I especially like the rubber thought about buying them, maybe next time. Sawblades are probably the best stock wheel for a C4, just tough to keep clean.

So how many miles did you put on her today?

Saw blades will fit... All you need is a 1/4 inch spacer. Ive heard as little as an 1/8th inch spacer is small enough to do the trick... They are cheap. I put 1/4" on mine and the C5 brakes cleared my saw blades.

Beautiful car, scenery is great too. Thanks for reminding me what the ground looks like when it isn't white.

But I think you're correct. The wheels are tad to much for my taste as well. But it still looks good!

Now, I got to say this but, here is a former C4 owner that misses the good C4 stuff. Can't replace loyalty. http://jk-adventure.com/JKA/images/smilies/th_thumbsupup.gif

Pete, what size wheels are those? I run 19/18 right now (temporarily) as they came off the C5. They seem to look good in person, but in pictures they look too big.

They are 285/40ZR18 all around. I'm going to photochop them and look at them as 285/35ZR18. If that doesn't make me happy, I'll save for a 17' wheel again.

This is how it used to look when I bought it with the 17" C5 replicas. The #1 reason I got rid of them was the stupid 8.5" front wheel. Gosh I hated that size.

Nice pictures Pete! I like them spoke wheels and would gladly take them off your hands if they were 17"'s.

Nice pictures Pete! I like them spoke wheels and would gladly take them off your hands if they were 17"'s.

I did some photochopping and use the wheel calculator and the visual issue is that the 285/40ZR18 is 1" bigger in diameter than 285/40ZR17. The 285/35ZR18 is 0.1" smaller than stock.

28/35ZR18 it is. If that does not satisfies me I'll have three years to save for new 17" wheels. Plenty of time to determine which wheel I would buy.
