New Pilot Hired at work.
I could instantly tell this guy had his stuff together. I liked him right off the bat. Turns out the guy is retired Air Force. Not only Air Force, but he was a friggen PJ! I noticed a small PJ sticker on his Motorcycle and asked him about it.
Damn cool individual. He said he got out because of his Son, and didn't want to get hurt, as many of his buddies have been. He did a few tours in the Sandbox, didn't elaborate much more than that. :yesnod:

The new guy is physically fit, unlike lard ass I was flying with the other day.
It's okay though, lard ass is a buddy of mine, but he eats too many hamburgers. :yesnod:

There is a very good National Geographic series about the PJs called Inside Combat Rescue. The show was filmed while the were deployed to KAF. Full episodes are on YouTube, they may still be availalble on Netflix. Definitely worth watching.

Scott, give him a good handshake and thank him for his service from us. I'd say give him a big hug, but you don't want to freak the new guy out by inadvertently hitting on him. Unless he's totally hot, then you should probably give him a big kiss for me. Just because. Support the troops and such. :leaving:

We actually also have Combat Controllers (CCT) and Forward Air Controllers (FAC). The PJ's get all the press. (BTW- I hear rumor that the FACs and CCT have combined into only CCT, but I'd have to ask around. ) Once in a while you hear about CCTer's doing something heroic and when they do, it's spectacular. For the record, hanging from a helicopter under fire, to pick up a pilot isn't brave, it's crazy. (I kid, I have tons of respect for them) Please read the article.
Worth the read. (http://www.airforcetimes.com/story/military/2015/05/11/the-heroics-behind-airmens-air-force-cross-silver-stars/26992617/)
