Even though the later models with the bubble canopy are probably the
most aerodynamic and best looking models, I love the early models with
that P-40 type canopy. Reminds me of a fastback compared to a coupe...
Same with the early razorback P-47's..

I prefer the 'D' model as well, but these earlier versions are so rare it's just neat to see them...However...
The 'Malcolm Hood' variants are COOL! I have never seen one in real life. Kind of a transition thing between the earlier models and the bubble canopy...it's a British thing (basically the Spitfire canopy)

I LOVE hearing those badboy V12s fire up, and a 400mph flyby is one of the best sound and sight experiences you can get. :yesnod:

I forget the plane type, but I think it was a P51, but over an SCCA track in W. Va. Summit Point......was a fellow some years ago, Bob Thulius (sp?) he used to buzz the track when they running.....fun show....
even more fun to see is all the wrecked full size .gov vehicles that got totaled in .gov driver training for various agencies....

Was gonna ask if that was the Collings Foundation Mustang, but you answered my question. Those guys are SUPER nice and they have awesome aircraft.
