Is there really anyone in the world who doesn't know that tune? It's a classic.

True story: When that song was very popular, Brubeck had a daughter that he loved playing jazz with. While his daughter was otherwise busy, but Brubeck wanted to jam with her, he's sit at the piano in their home and play the anticipatory "dum dom dum...dum dom dum...dum dom dum" refrain over and over until she couldn't resist any longer to complete the song. Then they'd play together for a few hours and Brubeck was happy.

Yeh, much older sister took piano lessons, all classical crap....BORING to me, so because the folks had a piano, I took piano lessons with a boring classical teacher......

I wanted to play drums or most anything else....finally the piano teacher gave up and let me change to another more cool/modern JAZZ oriented instructor and so much happier, but when hearing the modern notes, the folks dropped the lessons.....

:sadangel::issues: did not drop my interest in Jazz/Blues/Bluegrass one damn bit.....

The first million selling jazz record. Brubeck was on the cover of TIME magazine, and it really put jazz on the musical map. For many people, it was the first jazz they heard.
