Yeah, from what I can see Rebels was kind of a bait-and-switch on all of us actually.

They wanted us to get to know the crew of the Phantom before bringing in all our old friends... which they planned to do all along.

Rogue One is going to be interesting. The official synopsis is "A band of resistance fighters unite for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans in Star Wars anthology film, Rogue One", and there are rumors of bounty hunter involvement.

In discussing the film during Celebration, director Gareth Edwards (Godilla 2014) said he wanted to show a galaxy without the Jedi, and how the people react. Other people involved, several of them infact, kept saying "puts the WAR in Star Wars"... which made everyone giggle like little girls...
