Neighbor friend across the street a newer white Merc. with 6 oval front lights of various descriptions...looks kind of stupid to me, but anyway, it's another boring 4 dr. sedan and so he got a THREE grand estimate from the Merc stealer to fix a front rad hose which is some screwed up thing I would not even think twice about changing to make sense....some supposed leak off some odd crap thing up high in back of the engine on pass side....totally effed up engineering for whatever it was, located THERE??? then the battery, instead of a typical 24 series battery like every other car on the road, it has this long thinner but similar height lead post POS in under the trunk.....and the CHEAPEST he can find for it is get THIS shit.....175 bux.....

I would find a way, but a 24 Marine deep cycle is going in...hell or high water....

I looking at that engine, and just laughing at it, what a POS.....

it's the RWD version of a modern FWD to work on.....talk about screwed up engineering.....what a mess.....

JUNK from word go....here he is SOLD on what a fine car he has....

If you think that is stupid, I also have a BMW that is out of warranty. I just had the dealer replace the battery for $425. The damn thing has to be registered to the car.

The battery must be registered\programming by the dealer or tech because of the charging cycle it will implement.

Wife loves her new Bimmer.I enjoy it because it handles perfectly and is a traditional rwd car No fwd crap which most cars are based on or awd which this one is also.
You could not give me a Ford or Mopar and the only thing GM does right is the Corvette or trucks.

Most of my vehicles (dozens) have been Chevys. Mostly pickups. A few GMC trucks. Handful of Vettes.

My current and only vehicle is a F-150 KR. By Far the nicest truck I have ever owned.

FWIW, I have had a few cars over the years and my experience with the German stuff isn't any different than other European cars or domestics. Cars get old fast and shit breaks. They are all the same in that way. They also all depreciate. If you have to worry about how fast the thing depreciates, you are buying too much car.

I love cars, so none of that bothers me, it is part of the ownership experience.

The wife's FJ40 is hardly crap and has held its value quite well.
Toyota's you can work on and are designed to be taken apart easy and fixed.
Domestics are designed to be put together easy on the assembly line by UAW members and that's about it.
