Progress.
I'm going to have the smoothest door openings on the planet. The car goes to the paint shop next week.
Waiting on the new guitar body but the neck is ready for sealer.
I filled all the little holes from 20 years of different tuning machines, allen wrench holder, nuts, nicks and dents, etc.

nuthin's free.
Here's the story. I painted a car. Once. At the same time I painted a guitar using the same paint system and poor technique. Once.
Never happy with the finish on either. Time to do it right with a professional.

It wont take but a few seconds to shoot that also while he is doing the jambs..
I wouldn't have cared a bit back when I was doing that kind of work, I'm sure he wont mind..

What kind of sealer would you use on wood under poly auto finish?

Heck I don't know.. haven't painted anything in a long time and they have a lot of new materials out there now.
Back when I was into it... they had a two part epoxy primer that was good for sealing things, and also had good filling capabilities.

That's the same as they use today to seal the fiberglass, and that should seal up any type of wood as well. I'd finish it with the exact same system as the car. Your painter would be the guy to know for sure. :seasix:

You are fortunate to have found a painter who will allow you to prep the car. Most painters want their hands to be the only ones involved in the job.

Did you put the rear wheel openings back to stack?

So far he ain't letting me do much. I'm mostly working on areas of the car that are hidden and doing mechanical work.
He wants to supervise. I'll be doing a fair amount of sanding. And I've offered to work on his C3 if he needs help.
But I agree - I'm lucky to have found him. He's pretty uptight. But I've never met a painter that wasn't. I'm pleased he takes it seriously.

No - we decided that money and labor would be better spent on other issues. Apparently that is a tougher job than it appears. For example, I need all new tail light housings and want to buy factory side exhau$t.
I can't see putting those shitty sidepipes on after the paint job. :willy:
I think taller tires will make a big difference. And I may lower the rear a bit more - taking the risk that the spring bolt could get caught on the ground if I get a flat in the rear. Right now the end of the bolt is just short of the rim and the nut is all the way out - as low as it will go.
We will see.

Taller tires fill out the wheel well better in my opinion. You could go with a 75Rx225 on back and a 60Rx215 up front for a little bit of a rake look and to keep the air foil c2 shape on the ground better at speed. BFG still makes 15s I think for muscle car restorers. OR, go with 17in. wheels when you find some long green! Check the Minilites look below.
I used a small front chin spoiler on mine.....worked great.
Flares are back in fashion now anyway, after year of being shunned by purists....but I sorta like all four done for continuity. :yesnod:

That shot is not my car BTW, but I will one day do up another c2 in that fashion. You've all seen my old 66 that I had I think.....wish I had it back.:(
This was mine, before I lowered it about 2 inches up front and added the chin spoiler. :seasix:
