The original story..

Padres' compassion hits a home run - The Orange County Register (http://www.ocregister.com/articles/lachappa-98759-says-padres.html)

Cliffs: he had a heart attack while warming up in the bull pen a few years back, which left him in a wheel chair and can't even spoon feed himself.

The Padres keep him signed on so he has good medical insurance to provide him with quality of life.

Great story! and wish we heard more about good things like this.. :seasix:

Very nice thing of them to do, not many "companies" would do that today

This is what America is suppose to be about. People and businesses helping those in need.

thankfully, they caught my weak heart before i flopped over almost dead. heard a few discussions about heart transplants and Salt Lake City, but those have faded away now. every day is a gift to me, so i try not to waste them.

i only have me and Mrs. DAB to pay the bills, and we do.

good for Alex Spanos and family. :cert:
