Not really. I had a tee time each Sunday down in Florida. I doubt the golf courses will open until mid May with all the snow.

And I am frigging freezing when I walk outside.

Ya me too... Freezing. It was 16 friggin' degrees yesterday and I had to go pick up a French door that I bought on CL at9am.
I froze my azz off. I think it's 18° right now, as I type.
It's just ridiculous.

I finally talked my wife into moving into a 1500 sq ft condo for the next 12 years until I retire.
Then I'll either inherit my parents place in Bonita, rent a place, or buy another condo down in the Carolinas somewhere.
Wow... A life changing decision is here now that my kids have left the nest.

You may want to look for a place in Florida after you downsize now. Prices have been slowly but surly going up. And the Bonita area is in one of the more desirable areas. Hertz is moving their Corporate HQ to Ft Myers soon.

We had a great winter in Florida. We Met a group of people who live there full time and have other met other snowbirds who are planning to sell their homes up north and move full time to Florida.

My issue is I can retire today once I get the maintenance and up keep of the NH home off my books and the cash from the sale in the bank. The job market , in my business, sucks and I want to enjoy life after decades of running around the globe.

I am downsizing in order to squirrel as much savings away in the next 12 years before I retire. I'm 51 years old so I have a bit to go yet. My kids have really stretched me to the limit with their private schools, blah blah blah etc etc. Without the overhead and ball & chain of a house, I can also just lock the door and leave anytime I want to. Housing prices are high here right now, interest rates are low, and there is a high demand for my type of house and location. I figure I'll cash out and put the equity to work in other ways.
I'll probably sell everything up here and move down there when I retire, but as long as I have my job here, I'm riding it out as long as the cash is flowing.
I don't want to carry two houses right now. My parents are, one up here and a condo in Bonita, and it seems that renting is probably a better way to do it as opposed to buying right now. It'll be just the opposite when I retire, that is, if I ever come back here again after that.

You're heading back too damn early, Paul. I don't even think about heading north until May 1st. Not much chance of Michigan (or NH) snow in May...

FWIW, after a few weeks of glorious weather, it's darn cold here today. It will only be 66 at my tee-off time today. Brrrrr!

1st week in May we are going back to Florida to look at potential places. Going to check out a number of areas from St Augustine up to Amelia Island.
Cant wait to get out of Hellinois. Its getting close enough I can just about taste it (2-3years max)

LOL. We had to come back early to set up the house for sale in Mid April. Plus it will be our last Easter here and my Daughter is changing jobs.

Look a little further south as well down to Palm Coast/Flagler beach. They are still depressed and it's not a snow bird area. Mainly year round people up there.

Still her for a couple weeks yet. It's a gorgeous weekend but next couple weeks it'll be hitting high 90s and muggy.

Then it's time to bounce.

I wanted to stay a few weeks longer (Come back early May) But we have one last Easter in NH and we have a ton of little things that need to get done to sell the house.

The sooner we get it on the market the faster I can be fully retired.

Yeah man, it's going into peak sales season.
Will be nice for it to fetch a good price and be done with it.

We'll catch up for a cold one one of these days. :datawiz:
