I find that regardless of brand, the fifth drink tastes pretty good.:shots:

Anyone who doesn't know that Evan Williams is a good bourbon isn't a serious drinker.

True. However, anyone who doesn't think that Ten High is absolutely vile should not be writing a review on whiskey. If you need a mixer to choke it down, it's not good.
And Evan Williams Single Barrel is excellent!

Only one on that list that I've tried.
I've been drinking Devil's Cut of late, but it's not exactly cheap.
The cutoff for "cheap" was $ 20/bottle. Last time I went to the liquor store, over a year ago, I bought 1.75l's of Jim Beam Honey for $ 19.99 each. Tasty stuff, IMHO. Haven't tried any of the others on that list, though. Still have most of the bottle I kept left, so it may be a while before I'm up for another trip to the liquor store.

I didn't know Billy Idol had a whiskey. Gotta get that for nostalgia reasons.

Rebel Yell was Keith Richards' bourbon of choice back in the day.

Billy has no liquor brand I am aware of... I think the reference was to song lyrics... "With a rebel yell yada yada more, more, more!"

Actually there are a couple of blended scotches that are quite drinkable at the top end ($20) of this range
Teachers
White Horse
Grants
Are three I have had that while no one will confuse them with a premium single malt, all can be enjoyed with soda or water

Don't know if you can get it down there but you should try Grouse scotch. When I was in Scotland the regular brand they served was "the famous Grouse" It's what I served as a house brand in my establishment for 15 years, and my 'go to' for cheap Scots whiskey......

Famous Grouse is usually about the same price as JW Red here which puts it a little above the thread price point
I have had it before and it's not a bad drink at all

Evan Williams is good stuff. :yesnod:
I like Ten High, it's a cut above Ancient Age (which I actually like). :leaving:
Then again, I like cheap whiskey.
My favorite cheap Whiskey's are Old Crow and Old Grandad. It's a nostalgia, more than anything else. :yesnod:
If Old Crow is good enough for Colonel Bud Anderson, it's good enough for me. :)

In a nod to our Northern brothers I will nominate Black Velvet Canadian Whiskey. Smooth and mixable both... and inexpensive!

Canadian Club isn't bad either.
It's interesting the article did not mention Jim Beam. Way under $20 here.
I've always kind of liked it because it's what my dad used to drink and it was "available" in my younger days.

If you like CC, try Canadian Mist. It's cheaper and just as good if not better.

I went out with a girl who's father was a general in the Canadian Army and he could have whatever hooch he wanted at the mess, but that was his libation of choice at home. :seasix:

Rebel Yell was Keith Richards' bourbon of choice back in the day.
Back in the late 70s I had a bottle of that stashed under my backseat at all times.
You never new when a party was going to pop up when you're in High School. You had to be prepared always.
