A bud called me last night saying he had a line on a 1991 Miata which has been sitting at a local apartment complex for about a year now. Student owned, and the owner is leaving for his home country tomorrow. Rear window out of the top and stolen radio but otherwise whole, and priced at "400 dollars maybe I take less". Settled for $300 and the tow cost $70. I hooked a jump box to it after checking the fluids and a minute later I drove it up and down my driveway. Runs well, butter smooth clutch and the brakes still work, but a grunchy noise from the Torsen when driving forward... I suspect the clutches are stuck???? I am a happy camper right now.

Trying to upload pics via the "add attachment" thingy but I get a fatal error... file too large. Must I host these first somewhere or am I doing something wrong? I used to have a Photobucket account but have not used it in forever.

Email 'em to yourself. Then upload what you get back.
Usually that gives you a free down-sizing of pics.
Are you sure it's a Torsen? Does it have leather seats? 15" stock wheels?

What's a Torsen?

Torsen is some kind of upgraded differential.

I asked a really smart mechanical engineer that has worked on race cars.
And that's it! I'm done!:slap::slap:

Actually the original window sticker is still with the car and it states the rear is a Torsen type. Thanks SeaSix... I will try your hack when I am sober.

Crap... still no joy. It appears I am too computer challenged to share images currently. I did get some plastic into the missing back window yesterday and washed the exterior. The wife says it can stay awhile now since it no longer looks like a junkyard refugee.

I'll host them if you email me. I'll PM you.

Not exactly certain what its future is here... the deal came up suddenly and since it has been raining here steadily since it arrived I have not even finished looking it over carefully to determine exactly what is there. Finish cleaning it up for certain, then we'll see!
