There is talk recently from Brooks about finally making Spaceballs 2: The Search For More Money...



If I did a movie that came out right after 'Star Wars' comes out, you know, maybe a couple of months later ... I'd have a big weekend, you know, no matter what...

He says if he could get Bill Pullman, Daphne Zuniga and Rick Moranis, he'd do it. Zuniga is onboard, per Brooks, and so is Moranis (despite the urban myth that he is retired), so it's Pullman with the question mark, and I bet he'd be interested if someone bothers to ask.

If Mel did this as a Guardians Of The Galaxy/Interstellar/Transformers/The Force Awakens parody, rather than second straight up Star Wars goof, I bet he'd make ridiculous bank. I can imagine a CGI character being good for some great riffs on overuse of cgi, motion capture and the uncanny valley.

Make the main villain Dark Helmet, of course, but recostume Lone Starr as Starr Lone, a Peter Quill knock off, Vespa gets a million costume changes a'la Padme Amidala, with insane hairstyles, etc., just have her costume changing randomly throughout, recast Barf as a mo-cap/cgi character, maybe a man-sized chicken that can talk, and wear a vest...

But I doubt we'll ever see Mel actually make a sequel... I think he just says shit to mess with the fans.

I'm telling you Mel could make the definitive blockbuster parody with this thing, not just a sci-fi send up!

Any movie that had John Candy in it, is always worth watching. He had a great heart and people laughed and laughed.
