When me and my wife was in Honolulu I noticed that there were no coconuts on the palm trees. I asked a local at the bar about that and he said that some years earlier a coconut fell and hit a tourist in the head. After that the coconuts were removed.:cert:

Some clean them all of the time here also for that reason.

Some nail a wrap of steel sheet around the tree to keep rats from climbing them as they get up there and chew on the fruit making it easier to fall sometimes.

This Pic above I took at Stakili a beach resort just north of Lilo-an, and they also had a sheet metal wrap on them.

I just got a laugh out of.... OF instead of For :lol:

But the large fruit bats here also eat the fruit too, and can't stop them from getting up there.

We harvest ours here in the yard as soon as they are ready to eat, so that minimizes the chances for falling.
