Some details... not much...

A security camera videotaped a Cirrus SR-22 crashing in a north Phoenix parking lot Aug. 4.

The pilot radioed Phoenix Deer Valley Airport shortly after takeoff, saying he needed to return to "close the door," according to the National Transportation Safety Board report. He received clearance to land, and said he didn't need a More..ny help. That was the last the tower heard from him.

A witness driving near the airport said he saw the plane in apparent trouble, and soon after saw a plume of smoke.

The plane crashed into the parking lot of a pest control company, killing the pilot, who was the only person onboard.

The video shows the plane crashing nose first into the parking lot of a pest control company.

The front of the plane snaps off, pieces scatter, and then the wreckage explodes into a massive fireball filling the security camera screen.

The crash burned part of the company's building, but fortunately nobody else was hurt.

The NTSB is still investigating.

SR-22 is what we have for a company plane.
I'll have to send that to out pilot.

So does all of that mumbo jumbo translate to "pilot error?"

We had two, but sold one last year IIRC.

Our former pilot was flying through the Rockie Mountains several years ago and the seal popped on the door.
He was an arrogant smartass, but he admitted he was shitting bricks on that one. The weather was terrible and he was freezing and couldn't land anywhere. The next week he asked if I wanted to go with him on that same flight.
Uh...no.

Cool thing about that plane is that it has it's own parachute.
