I knew you 3 guys would like it.. :yesnod:
Pretty interesting story I thought.
He was a really great racer in his day, and won many Late Model and ASA series races on the short tracks before going Cup Racing.
A good friend of mine got to know him pretty well and always thought a lot of him, I never met him myself, but would have liked to have known him.

Great read. Answered a lot of questions. It's sad that he carried so much pain. both physical and emotional around for so long. Truly a dyed in the wool racer.
:sadangel:
The article definitely highlighted the differences between the working racer
in the early days and the bankrolled racers of today.

Agreed. It was an excellent read. Hard to know how much weight was on his shoulders.

That was a very well written article. I knew a little bit about Mr. Trickle, but had no idea that he was near as successful as he was. Truly one of the greatest and very under appreciated. R.I.P., Dick Trickle.:driving:

I knew some of that but learned a lot more than I already knew.

He had all the ingredients to be a great Cup driver. He just didn't need to be one. All he needed to do was win.

I actually read it a second time. It sounds like he just got into NASCAR too late in his life.

I did also.. :yesnod:
A really interesting story, and well written I thought.
Once I started reading it. it was like a good book I could not put down till I finished it.
He did get a late start... back when he was in his prime NASCAR was not a big deal and he could make more money running the short tracks.
He sure did win a lot of races in his lifetime though. :seasix:
