Holy Jumping Shitballs. :rasta:

I live on a street that is No Parking without a Permit from the city. It's basically due to an establishment (Bowling Alley)nearby that has limited parking, so the neighborhood got together a number of years ago to prevent the 'customers' from parking (and partying) on the neighborhood streets. Even though it's no parking, it doesn't prevent these fine upstanding citizens (I am being sarcastic)from partying around the neighborhood after it closes. Evidence being beer and liquor bottles and the occasional used condom. :hump:

Despite paying 5 Large per year in property taxes, the City of Los Angeles has deemed it necessary to charge $34.00 per year for a permit to allow me to park in front of my house on my street. Fortunately, or Unfortunately, this lovely fee was prorated to 22 bucks because it's March.

So, being that I am renting a Uhaul on Wednesday to move stuff up to the Mountain, I have the need to park on the street. So off I go this afternoon to find the LADOT office in Van Nuys. 6309 Van Nuys Blvd, suite 103 to be specific.

So after considerable traffic congestion, I make it to the general area and park. Luckily I found a meter with time on it, so I didn't have to fork over even more of my hard earned cash to the City.

I figured it would be the general area around the Courthouse and City Buildings, but nope. It was a full block away on the opposite side of the street. Very unassuming location for a .Gov office.

I walk into this joint and the building is like something out of Blade Runner. I'm not shitting you. A bit of a Urine Odor, combined with a strong smell of Reefer. And very run down. Think of a narrow hallway with different offices and businesses tucked in real close to each other.

So right next door to the LADOT parking enforcement office is...Low and behold. A weed dispensary. I'm not talking like the next building over, it's the office DIRECTLY NEXTDOOR. I may have even got a contact high from going in there. :yesnod:

So I got my sticker, which they require you put on your bumper. DAMN SONS A BITCHES.

Living in Los Angeles. It's not just an adventure, it's a Job. :leaving:

I understand. But there are some great things to do and see. Honestly though, unless you are with somebody that knows what they are doing, I don't blame you.

I love SOCAL in general though. :yesnod:

I'm drinking Whiskey now, so the miniscule buzz I would have gotten has been superseded by Mr. Beam. :D

I loved Socal too. During the 70's and 80's. When the 90's hit, it went to hell in a hand basket. Hasta La Vista, baby! :kimblair:

I come back once a year for business. It's still hell. Only now it's a bigger hand basket.
