I would love to have a '62. God, I wish my wife would let me buy one. :sadangel:

I call BS on the factory replacing the motor story. Sounds like a lot of hype to sell the car or build up the owners ego.

Here's one I'd love to have...

Original "survivor" be damned....I'd restore it, and DRIVE it! Those seats would be the first thing to be redone. Then a good cleanup, buff up the paint, restore anything mechanical, new radials and that's it.

I'd love an early shark. I had a 71 LT-1 convertible, and was unwise in letting it go.
For me it's not a wife thing...it's a lack of funds thing. :(

I'm lucky I've never been in a situation that required me to sell my baby. 62 was always my favourite year and I was lucky to find a good one when I was 21! :yesnod:

A guy from around here used to have a huge car collection (since mostly sold off) including over 200 Corvettes. He had a '53 that was entirely original. It didn't look great but only had a few thousand miles on it, and the sign on it said it was the oldest completely original Corvette known in existence. I have a picture of it somewhere, let me look.

Edit: I think it's on a CD somewhere, I just don't feel like looking though the hundreds of old CD's I have in a drawer.

I remember the 2,200 mile '54 Corvette that was walled up in a store in Brunswick, Maine for 27 years and then stored in a lady's living room for another 10 years.

There are some amazing survivors out there and the older they get, the crazier the stories about why they survive seem to be.

I was 9 and my brother was 8 when my dad was carting us around a the red 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Conquerers Estate Wagon.
The suicide seat in the back was our favorite. We each saved each other numerous times from falling out the tailgate window by grabbing belts from behind.
Those were good times... :seasix:

Most 53's are documented as to their whereabouts. A few years ago, one of the missing ones showed up in Hemmings. My buddy jumped on a plane and flew from MA to FL to buy it before anyone else could. The money they take in is insane.

Would love to have that car. I always wonder why people allow cars like that vette just sit and do nothing with them.:cert:
