Indonesia moving 2 Aussies, 5 other foreigners for execution (http://news.yahoo.com/2-australian-inmates-moved-execution-indonesia-123917098.html)
Good.
I've been to Indonesia only once. Singapore has the death penalty for drug trafficking and their crime and drug use rates are miniscule.
I'm sure that cuts down on the recidivism rate.

In Australia earlier Monday, Prime Minister Tony Abbott said he had personally appealed to Jokowi to stop the executions.
"Like millions of Australians, I feel sick in the pit of my stomach when I think about what is quite possibly happening to these youngsters," he told reporters.
Let me help you Tony: You should feel sick to the pit of your stomach for the deaths caused and lives ruined as a result of heroin use, not the elimination of the "youngsters" that are trafficking the stuff.
I'll bet the reality is that millions of Australians could give two shits about these clowns and would love to ship more drug smugglers over to Indonesia to be shot.
Political posturing at its finest. :spdchk:

Yep. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time ( or whatever).

Do they need any foreign aid in the form of a rope or bullets?

Pretty simple concept, don't mess around and you won't get messed around.
The ironic thing is, these guys were trying to smuggle drugs OUT of Indonesia, INTO Australia.

Not even trying to be the Devil's advocate here, but at least in this country, the "war on drugs" is a complete failure. Obviously we learned not one damn thing from alcohol prohibition. We have "created" the crime, enriched the violent cartels, stuffed our prisons with a bazillion non violent users, not to be confused with violent hardened criminals. I'm not condoning the violence at all, but when was the last time someone killed someone over a keg of beer? It bears heavily on our society in the form of taxes to keep people incarcerated, the crime itself is over money, etc. Those guys getting executed will not stop or slow down one damn thing. If someone wants to do drugs, so be it. The hard stuff will only thin the herd. It is mostly a social problem and should be treated that way. We condone alcohol, and hell, read some of the statistics on that. Decriminalize it, tax it, let the herd thin itself, and if your chosen job has an issue with you doing drugs, then they can piss test you, and let it roll that way. Thing is, the people at the top are doing coke off hookers asses, while Billy Bob in the trailer park is going to prison. Tell me where that makes sense......

Among the eight are Andrew Chan, 31, and Myuran Sukumaran, 33, the ringleaders of a group of nine Australians arrested in 2005 for attempting to smuggle 8.3 kilograms (18.3 pounds) of heroin to Australia from the Indonesian resort island of Bali. The seven other members of the group — dubbed the "Bali Nine" by Australian media — have received prison sentences ranging from 20 years to life.
If they execute two of them will they have to rename them the "Bali Seven" ? :island14:
