Woman Gets Bag Full of Cash at Burger King Drive-Thru

ROCHESTER, N.H. — Jan 25, 2015, 6:59 AM ET

A New Hampshire woman got a surprise at a Burger King drive-thru: a bag full of cash instead of food.

Janelle Jones says she discovered on the way home that the bag did not contain the sweet tea and junior spicy chicken sandwich that she had ordered Friday at the Rochester fast-food restaurant.

Foster's Daily Democrat reports that Jones called her husband and they decided to return the $2,631, which was a Burger King bank deposit.

Matthew Jones says the couple briefly considered keeping the money, which they certainly could have used. But he says he and his wife are Jehovah's Witnesses, and that "Jehovah sees everything."

The newspaper reports that the restaurant confirmed the couple's account but had no comment on it.

:iagree: But I've heard many FF managers handle their deposits like that since it's less suspicious (read safer) than someone carrying one of those zippered money bags.

About 40 years ago, a buddy inherited his Father's restaurant, and so Billy put some friends in charge, one of them made the early AM bank deposit of the day's receipts into the night deposit slot.....well some thugs got wise, they killed he friend straight away, and of course made off with the bux....probably over ten grand.....zippered bank bag....

Similar thing went down last year in Louisville. A local grocery store employee was killed after exiting the store with the pharmacy's bank deposit that night.

Murdered Kroger employee's father speaks

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Honest, hardworking and very loyal. Those are the words the father of a murdered Kroger employee uses to describe him.

Only on WDRB - We spoke with Jack Combs' father, and he told us how family members are feeling - now that there has been an arrest in the case.

Maybe you can't see it on the outside, but Jack Combs Jr. is in a lot of pain on the inside.

"When you lose your first born child, the loss, quite frankly, is overwhelming," says Jack Combs Jr., father of Kroger murder victim.

Combs' first born was Jack Combs III, who was shot and killed at the end of his shift outside the St. Matthews Kroger in November. "It happened on November 23rd and I can tell you that things for our family have not gotten better," explains Combs.

Combs still remembers the night police came to his home with the news.

"There was a knock at my door and a person in uniform, shinning a flash light at me and there are three policemen from the St. Matthews police department came in and advised my wife and I that my son had been killed and that it was a homicide."

Last week, detectives arrested a co-worker, 18 year old Aaron Cross and charged him with murder and robbery.

Combs says, "It helped my situation...a little bit."

It may have helped, but both the crime and the suspect surprised Combs' family.

Combs said, "That was the last thing that I would expect for is my son to be shot and die at work...at Kroger."

The elder Combs also says his family is still devastated and wants justice...but nothing more. "The sense of loss...overwhelming loss, overshadows completely any need for revenge or retribution."

Meanwhile, Combs says his son loved his job at Kroger and was hardworking and very loyal.

"Loyal to his family, and to his friends and ah, loyal to the Kentucky Wildcats."

And he had big plans for his future. "I think that his biggest plans in the near future were to find a young lady and get married."

Police expect to make another arrest in the case in the near future. Anyone with information about the murder can call St. Matthews Police.

If Jehovah sees all...do you think he gets mad when I hide and don't answer the door when his minions come a ringing? :)

Just tell 'em what my Dad used to say; "you mean to tell me as long as y'all have been around that 144,000 of y'all ain't died and gone to Heaven yet?"

Worked every time and they never returned. :seasix:

Or........the speech I usually give them.

"Hey Guys........I got bad news for you. If only 144,000 people are going to heaven, you can pretty much bet that heaven is full and you're SOL.
I know this because heaven is full of people that DO NOT bang on my door and wake me up when I have one bitch kitty of a hangover."

Threatening to shoot through the door also helps.

I guess I'm just a soft touch. As soon as I open the door, I can recognize JW's. I always ask, "JW's? When they say yes, I tell them I appreciate them coming by, but I'm really not interested, then thank them again and tell them to have a nice day. Yeah, I'm just polite that way.

I could be a dick to them, but I exercise my power as the property owner to NOT be a dick.

Edit: Same theory applies to driving. Somebody puts their turn signal on, I could be a dick and speed up to "protect" my lane, but if it's feasible, I let them in. Exercising power by granting privilege. Plus, these days, I just appreciate the other 6 or 7 people in Houston that still use their turn signals.

If Jehovah sees all, he knew the money was there and made to attempt to intervene. It was meant to be.

I went to BK yesterday for lunch. I did not get a bag of money. I got what I think was a burger but it is subject to interpretation.

Clearly God has forsaken you. You're doomed. DOOMED!
