My daughter left my office early yesterday. She said she was up most off the night before coughing and with a light fever. It got worse as the day went on; she saw a doctor who said that she has a virus. By that time she had severe chills and fever, then began throwing up last night.
Last night I had a bad cough and nightmares. It didn't help that I had to get up at five-thirty a.m. and hit the road for two hours. I felt pretty shitty and drained all during the trip, plus I had some fever. When I got home today my eyes were blood-shot, I was freezing from the fever, and I just feel sick all over.
I bought some Robitussin cough and lung dry-up syrup and some Tylenol on the way home. I'm no longer shaking from being cold, and the coughing subsides a bit for 2-3 hours after taking the cough syrup. I can only take a dose of cough syrup ever four hours.
It's going to be an interesting night/weekend. Will I start throwing up later tonight, get chills and fever, and cough my lungs up? I'm also on gin and tonic right now. I've heard that you can talk a drunk germ into going somewhere else. It's worth a try.
Believe it or not, I hardly ever get sick. I haven't had a cold in years, and I can't remember the last time I had the flu. I know that part of it is that I just keep going anyway, sick or not, and that's probably a way of life now.
What will happen tomorrow/the next several days? I hope I can just walk through it like I always have...only this time I'm not so confident as I've always been. I hate admitting that I'm getting older and perhaps more vulnerable to illness. I'll continue to fight it, though. Maybe tonight when the germs get drunk enough, we can have a Come-to-Jesus meeting and I can tell them who's boss.
Wish me luck.

Good luck to you, sir.........
I have found that if one poisons their system enough with good Gin, you rarely get sick.

Did you get a flu shot? :toetap:
I've gotten one for the last 10 years at least in the fall, and I haven't been sick with a cold or flu for at least that long.
Drink extra water Larry, alcohol dehydrates the system. :datawiz:

If you wake up feeling worse tomorrow, hit the Immediate Med or a local clinic and try for a Tamiflu scrip. Stuff is amazing. You'll be glad you did.

When you wake up from the gin soaked stupor you will be in tonight. Drink lots of water and then hit the aspirin. After that eat. No coffee. Take some more of the meds you listed before and go back to bed. Rinse and repeat. :cert:

I got my first flu shot this year. So far so good. I wouldn't have gotten the shot, but to work at my volunteer job at the hospital you either have to get the shot or wear a mask the whole time you are in the hospital.
It's amazing how many medical professionals are walking around the hospital with masks on. Mostly RNs.

How are you guys feeling today?
Daughter is better, I'm not so good. I woke up at 4:00 a.m. coughing and with fever. I took two Tylenol and a dose of cough syrup. I thought I'd crash and burn by now, but I'm still not sleepy. I just had another dose of cough syrup and two more Tylenol. I really thought that my guts would be coughed up by now.

Hang in there man. Hope you get on the mend soon. I had the flu a few years ago and thought I was going to die. My wife complained that I stayed on the computer too much when I was sick. I was like, well, I feel like hell on the couch, and I feel like hell sitting here, but at least I'm keeping myself amused. Between the shivers, sweats, and body aches, it amounts to one helluva good time.:sadangel:
Hope you feel better soon.

I guess I some sort of strange/weirdo Tylenol does nothing, Aspirin cures a headache in about a hour....never fail me yet....., Aleve/Sodium Neproxyn will but me in the hospital...VERY allergic for some stupid reason that I found out because an arthritis doc put me on it, worked fine for almost 2 weeks then it was into the hospital IMMEDIATELY when seeing my primary doc, and they fed me NOTHING for 2-3 daze told me to NEVER take any more Aleve, well sure enough maybe 20 years later I took a silly 200mg tab of Aleve that my wife takes, over her objections....and sure enough, sick as a dawg hit by a dumptruck for 3 daze.....if anything it grossly ACCENTUATED the arthritis pains...go figger.....
the ONLY pain reliever that work well is Ibuprofen, 600 mg for me....sometimes it's 2 tabs, sometimes it's one, but it's twice/day AM and PM no matter the count.....I suppose I lucky in a way, the joint aches are as bad NOW as was 18 years ago up north.....love to afford to go to CUBA, right on the Equator.....:issues:
