freecycle....ugh

many years ago i was subscribed to the local free cycle, where you offer or ask for crap you have or want. dropped off as i needed/wanted nothing, and had nothing to offer up. but now i'm back, trying to dump a wine cooler, about 24 bottle size. ok, it doesn't cool, but it still hold wine neatly. the guys at the dump said i couldn't dump it, as it might still have freon. :rolleyes: i'd have to take it to a proper recycle place. ugh.

so far, no takers. but being on the list, there are all sorts of peeps out there with houses full of crap you can have for free, and plenty more looking to score a nice TV, sewing machine, computer, .....

recycle center is looking better everyday.

My next door neighbor took an angle grinder to an old freezer and put it in the trash; he said that they're going to take it, they just don't know it. I was amazed at how small a freezer is when you cut it up.

I brung a old air conditioner to recycle once.

It'd been all cut up with a sawzaw.

They took it with no questions. It was obvious that it couldn't possibly be holding any amount of freon.

I had a full size refrigerator 8 years ago that the City wouldn't take even though I removed the compressor and condenser. This is a city that LOVES to shear it's sheep! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I took a grinder and cutting torch to the fridge and cut it up into one-foot square chunks. The money for acetylene and oxy was no factor! These pricks were going to eat this fridge!

Six months later, the last piece went out in the weekly can and got picked up.
