Over 1 in 10 Galaxy Tablets returned
It’s shaping up to be a rough week for Samsung’s Galaxy Tab (SGT) tablet. Yesterday, it was disclosed that the lofty sales figures Samsung has been beating its chest about were to retailers, not to end users. Today, news breaks of a disturbing trend: the SGT had an estimated 16% return rate through January 15th.
Buyers remorse isn’t atypical, especially after the holiday season. 16%, however, is on the very high side. For comparison, since debuting at Verizon, Apple’s iPad has a return rate of just 2%. Ouch.
These figures come to use from ITG Investment Research estimates which put the cumulative return rate at 13% since the November debut. “Consumers aren’t in love with the device,” said Tony Berkman, a consumer tech analyst with ITG.
Considering how much love there is in the tech press for the SGT, what is driving the high return rates? CNet’s editor rating is a strong 4.5 stars and user reviews match that rating. Are consumers finding earlier versions of Android are not ready for mainstream tablet usage? If so, 3.0 (aka Honeycomb) should address that handily.
The question remains if it will be too late by then.

Google Unveils Honeycomb
Google had their Android 3.0 Honeycomb event yesterday at 1 o’clock and while it was nice that they were streaming it live, I guess they realize that some were not going to be able to check it out then. Anyway, the good news is that there is now a 52 minute and 55 second video available of the event. The video was posted on YouTube and that means you can now watch the Honeycomb action at your leisure.

Intel Flaw Leads to Refunds
The news of a flaw in Intel's new chipset is beginning to have an effect on CE manufacturers, as HP, Dell, Samsung and Asus have begun offering refunds on some affected PCs.
According to Dow Jones Newswires, 8 million flawed chips have been shipped by Intel since early January, although only a fraction of those actually reached customers.
The new Sandy Bridge processor was unveiled at International CES in January.
