how many gifts are there altogether over the span of the twelve days? To calculate this, just use the items taken as a whole; i.e., a partridge in a pear tree is one item, not two since there are a partridge and a tree. Same way with 8 maids a-milking: That could be 8 maids milking 8 cows, or 8 maids milking 2 cows (4 teats per cow).

Please show your work No Googling, please.

It only took 16 hours, but we finally got to the crux of the situation: Does the recipient of the gifts get them over and over again or just once?

If you take the words of the song literally. The person gets the same stuff they got the day(s) before all over again. So 364 would be correct. :cert:

If you shout "no justice, no peace" while shopping, it's significantly cheaper to acquire all that stuff.
