Michelin...
Thisis the trailer that had a sidewall blowout while trailering my dads Ford 2N....My other 3 tires still looked good, so I replaced the blown tire with a really nice used michelin. Ivep ut 500 miles on it, no problems.
This morning I took a seasons worth of small engine scrap to the yard, (rolled over the scales at 11,300lbs), and on the way there...I picked up a thump...and vibration. On the way back, it was violent...
Pulled off and found one tire had a chunk of steel in it, and the other had a belt come apart...so I just hoped for the best, after letting about 20lbs of air out.
Shook some bulbs out their holders, and I had to reweld a fender bracket..did I mention it was a violent ride home..lol

A few things I can see. Two different tires with different tread patterns, and big hunk of steel in the top one. Do I win? :D

You need to be artistic with that stuff, and sell it on your front lawn. $$$

8c/lb...scrap is crap right now because fuel prices are low. I got 314 for that load, Ive got some cleaned aluminum and brass yet to take that I forgot in the bed, about 25lbs worth.
You can seperate aluminum, copper, iron, etc..the price differential is steep...but it would literally take 2-3 days of cutting and disassembly old rusted shit, and oily burnt up parts...and frankly, Ive done it once, and It wasnt worth it. Onyl thing Ill do that with is electric motors, starters, stuff like that..I can get the armatures out in a couple minutes...thats copper.

If Id gone 2 weeks ago scrap was 11c/lb...Id have had about 432bucks...
I needed my trailer back though...no way in hell was I going to unload all that crap.
Red,
Stop running may-pops on your trailer. It isn't safe, not only for you, but for everyone else on the road who has to run over your debris. Man up and get a set of new, 12 or 14 ply trailer tires (not used car tires), and have them balanced when you put them on.
Sincerely,
Motorists of America
Edit: Also, make sure your tires are properly inflated, every trip. Underinflated tires are a major cause of blowouts.

Belt separation is always a fun time, when it occurs while driving down the highway. :yesnod:

These were new tires 2 years ago...600 dollars worth of new tires, but I often end up in...bad places, and its hard on tires. My average load weight is under 800lbs, I never have over 4000, this was my heaviest load ever...
Before I upgrade to better tires, ill just sell the trailer and get a 6 lug trailer with brakes...

Im anal about tire inflation, and balancing...I keep up on all that.
Honestly, looking back I think I know what caused the separation...there is a bridge I have to cross to get t othe scrap yard, and they've been working on it, and the lip where that side went up is pronounced...with 4K plus the trailer on it...it could easily have popped a belt...or cord, or whatever.

What sucks is Ive pimped this trailer out, gate lift, gate, full lights, 5000lb Superwinch with roller fairlead, red paint...its a great trailer, and its very low...
