I have an ancient Daisy lever-action BB gun that is rusted and has lost it's power. Last night I bought a Crosman pump-action as a replacement:

Pump-action air gun with spring air action
.177-caliber BB ammo with steel smooth bore barrel
Maximum velocity of 350 feet per second
Stained solid-wood pistol grip stock and forearm grip
Flip-up peep or open rear sight, adjustable for windage and elevation
I use it to scare off possums, raccoons, etc., plus it's good for target practice when you don't want noise.
I...am...Rambo!

I saved up all summer one year when I was a kid to buy one as I wanted it so much.
Shot a bird and watched it bleed out, and die.. and then I cried.
Never wanted to see anything ever die again.. :(
somewhere around here i have a spring actuated type BB gun. pull the barrel back and fire. fun little thing.
hmmmm....where did i put that thing?

I bought a Ruger Air Magnum to target shoot out back, 1200 fps. It's actually too loud to shoot in my backyard, louder than a 22. Now I use my Crosman M4 with BBs.

:iagree: And break your glasses. Then you have to drink straight from the bottle, or fight the cats for their bowl.

"Next to me in the blackness lay my oiled blue steel beauty. The greatest Christmas gift I had ever received, or would ever receive. Gradually, I drifted off to sleep, pranging ducks on the wing and getting off spectacular hip shots."

Here is what I have: and old Benjamin 22 caliper pump rifle. I've had it since the early 60's. Make out of solid brass and real wood. Imagine that. Still works.

Same type of experience here. Me and a buddy, box of beer, and 2 of his old man's 22s. Guess we were 16, maybe 17. Started shooting at clothes pegs and as the box of beer disappeared so did our brains. We started shooting tiny barn finches roosting in the trees, got about a dozen of them, figured we were hot shots, watching them flutter to the ground and bleed out flipping and flopping on the ground...:(
Neither of us slept that night thinking about how cruel we were....
I never took pleasure in hunting/killing after that. I can kill snakes and pests but even then...:(
Love target shootin though. :seasix:

I was only about 7 or 8 years old... And it was a valuable lesson about respect for life.
I don't have any problem killing poisonous snakes or rats and mice.
But wont kill anything just for the heck of it...
I have even hunted quite a bit through the years but always cook what we shot.
We sometimes raise a pig or two for food, also chickens and that does not bother me either.
Which reminds me... I need to try to find a piglet to start getting ready for when Rob gets here again.

To the best of my memory this looks like the one I had.
I do remember going to SS Kresge to buy it, and if I remember right it was $18
Saved all summer cutting lawns and cashing in pop bottles for 2 cents each that I would find along side the road.
Sometimes I would go to the store just so I could look at it hanging on the wall, and dreamed of having it someday.. :yesnod:

I bought a Crosman .177 break barrel because we had a rabbit problem a couple of years ago. They were eating all our flowers and plantings. It has a velocity of over 1000 feet per second and drops a rabbit in its tracks. I keep it next to the window in my living room just in case.
