Abcde Santos, 7, and her service dog, Pup-cake, were turned away from visiting with Santa at a California shopping mall. Santa and a helper elf were fired for the incident. Photo by Pup-cake the Service Dog/Facebook.

MISSION VIEJO, Calif., Dec. 2 (UPI) -- The Shops at Mission Viejo, a shopping center in Orange County, Calif., fired Santa and an elf after they refused to visit with an autistic girl because her service dog is a pit bull.
Seven-year-old Abcde Santos and Pup-cake the service dog were turned away from getting their picture taken with Santa Claus after waiting in line for 30 minutes Sunday. The employees playing jolly old Saint Nick and a helper elf turned the girl away because they were "afraid of her service dog," said Julie Miller, a friend of the Santos family.

Miller detailed the visit on Pup-cake's Facebook page.

"A family should be celebrating tonight the accomplishment of a child who waited over thirty minutes today at The Shops in Mission Viejo to meet Santa," she wrote. "After the Santos family offered to remove the dog from the area, the building, Santa still refused to see the child; sending her away heartbroken leaving a family to comfort a child instead of celebrating her accomplishments."

Representatives from The Shops at Mission Viejo responded, also on Facebook, by saying both Santa and the elf were fired.

"We do not condone the behavior displayed by Santa and have worked with our partners at Noerr, the company that hires our Santas, to replace this Santa with one that is more compassionate to our guests' needs," the post read.

This little girl already has the deck stacked against her, being autistic, then you have to pile on by naming her Abcde? WTF is wrong with you?

And the parents want to bitch about Santa? Again, WTF, parents?

I bet this turns out to be a spaceholder name put in place by the newspaper's typesetter and it was never corrected in the final edit before the story ran.

And giving her a vicious pitbull who will undoubtedly chew her foot off someday. I guess she'll at least get a valid handicap tag.

That's what I thought too.....before I checked other sources, like this one:

A 7-year-old girl with autism was unable to sit on Santa's lap because the guy playing Santa was allergic to the girl's service dog.

According to the OC Register, Abcde Santos (yes, her name is Abcde) waited in line for a half hour at the Shops at Mission Viejo see Santa. She had her service dog, Pup-Cake with her. Pup-Cake is a pitbull.

The dog was taken outside of the building, but Santa still wouldn't see the little girl.

Mall officials say they're working with an outside agency to get a different Santa. They also say the Santos family will be welcomed back for a special visit with the new Santa. Pup-Cake will be invited.

Nope.

Abcde Santos, who pronounces her first name "ab-suh-dee," and her service dog Pup-Cake stood in line for 30 minutes to see Santa Claus, said Julie Miller, a family friend and service animal advocate. The shopping center hosts visits with Kris Kringle for its holiday festivities.
