I added some more pieces and welded it up :yesnod:

I guess you'll be glad that's the back and will be covered up

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v78/JRD77VET/Triples/home%20shop/help/buckle/DSC00766.jpg~original

I still need to resurface the front to flatten it back out and then make the loop and hook for the back plate. The back plate will also be stainless steel.

Material list so far
47 3/32" rods
12 1/8" rods
6 1/4" s/s tubing
12 3/8" s/s tubing
3 3/4" s/s tubing
1 1" s/s tubing
2x3 rectangular s/s tubing
all polished by hand

It's cool, but what am I looking at? :D

Custom, one of a kind belt buckle. :yesnod:

Oh wow! I thought that was much larger (go me for ignoring the scale). That's badass!

That stainless steel TIG filler wire was too soft to cut to length on the lathe. I had to hacksaw it and then use my 1" belt sander to smooth the ends.

Can you say "heat transfer" ? :willy: You have about 1 second between feeling warmth and setting it down or burn

Looking much better with the front surfaced :cool1:

I also formed the belt loop and the belt hook.

The belt loop will be cut and welded to be a single piece, not doubled as shown in the pic. :seasix:

How wide is that loop? My belts are all 1-1/2" wide. No need to go wider. It will slip around.

That is a beautiful piece. :cool1: What did you go through to grind and polish it? :cert:

That is a beautiful piece. :cool1: What did you go through to grind and polish it? :cert:

Before I parted ( cut ) the pieces to length, I sanded them with fine emery ( cloth backed sandpaper) both on the outside and inside. The 1/4" pieces were too small to do the inside.

I used the 6" wide belt sander at work to finish the face you see in the pictures. Then I used a scotchbrite wheel on the part to polish it up.

Ummm, no.

Email sent. See the little bend in the loop? Keeps it centered. You could weld a little tab that would do the same thing.

NSA must have intercepted the email as it didn't get here yet.

I can keep the loop centered with the 1/4" tube moved to the outside. :seasix:

The issue is the belt staying centered on the loop.

Check email again. Too hard to upload pics from my iPhone.

Got it this time. I'll see if I can make another one a little smaller. That short 90* bend would be too difficult to do by hand.

Or just weld a tab to the loop.

Otherwise, if the belt is smaller than the loop, the belt will shift. Not cool. Almost all belts have a hole at that location. Used for standard buckles. I'll get a pic.
