In the fsu vs boston college game, fsu was driving o offense and after a play they made a substitution, when this happens, the field ref stands over the ball, or behind the center the center, to prevent play, allowing the defense a reasonable period of time to make a substitution. Tonight during the game, fsu qb jameis winston decided that enough time had elapsed, and physically removed the ref, and initiated play. The ref was in the right...i cannot figure out why a flag was not thrown, winston ejected, and 15 yards tacked on.

It's FSU. The NCAA has favorites and they determine who gets the calls.

He should have been thrown out of the game. Well actually, he should have been thrown out of the school a few years back.

if that's the play I heard being discussed, the play clock was about to expire. The ref cannot create a penalty for a team. If that ref had been aware the play clock was about to expire, he wouln't of hovered over the ball like that... or the ref could of called for an official time-out to allow the defense to re-group after the late substitution.
I think the end result of what happened overall... was tit-4-tat.

If that is the case, you sub earlier in the play clock, because the rules state that the opposing team has to be given time to sub in. Hurry up offense dont work when you sub players. You do not push a ref...

if the sub was too late for the rules, then the ref would of called a penalty; and he didn't. The ref can stop the clock - just long enough for the defense to regroup after a legal substitution; this happens often... a very short 5-7 seconds stop-clock.
In this specific, the ref was clueless that the play clock was about to expire.
You do not push a ref...
never said you should; just explaining what transpired.
