Kennedy assassinated 51 years ago today. I know you younger folks won't identify, but I was in the 10th grade, principal announced over the PA, sent us all home. Sad day. :halfmast:

I was minus 5, but my family was very conservative, no tears were shed, so I'm told.

My parents were both from conservative families, and are conservative themselves..my mom was 12, my dad was 13...both vividly remember it as one of those events in your life that you never forget where you were..like 9/11, the Challenger explosion, Discovery breaking up..., Kennedy Assassination, MLK Assassination, Nixons speech, CLintons "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" speech...

I was 4. I wasn't old enough to know what was up. But I remember the mood. I can remember thinking Santa Claus wasn't gonna come. And that's why people were sad. I'm serious.

I was 7 and remember it well. I knew something had happened when my mother met me walking home from the bus stop, I could see it in her face. It was a long slow walk home that day.

Same story here..

But I was in the 1st grade, principal announced over the PA, sent us all home. Sad day.

I cried and didn't even know the man.. At 6 years old I just knew it was something terrible for our President to be killed.

I also remember seeing this photo in the news, and felt so sorry for John John having to loose his father, and grow up without him.

You have to wonder, what would 1960's American politics been, had he not been killed?

You have to wonder, what would 1960's American politics been, had he not been killed?

JFK was set up from word GO, they carefully built up this Camelot crap around him and family, and so his proposals were going nowhere in conngress, and they were the basis of the great society crap that LBJ got through conngress because he paid off so many of them....and blackmailed the rest....LBJ makes NObama look honest....seriously....Bobby was killed on a Mafia hit, but to note the islam name of the shooter....makes me wonder....Bobby was going after too much of the Mafia, and so they wanted him dead, but could not do that and leave John in office, but John's shooter was a communist....makes me wonder about that one too.....

At any rate, all those 60's feel good crap great society shit is now proving to be a total waste of time and money, rapidly leading to BK for the nation....as if it wasn't known at the time.....

Where were you that day Mr? :island14:

I was walking out of that useless sociology class at univ/Md. about 2 pm and a bunch of kids standing in the hallway, block passage, I noted a radio and figgered it was music, but I had another class to get to and they in my way....needless to say that class was cancelled....went back to the dorm/trailers and watched it all on TV

I grew older right across the golf course from Navy Medical Center in Bethesda Md, easy to see from the street corner back in them daze, today it's all NIH/NLM buildings, it was all open access back then, today, not so much, unless you know things like I do.....

Naval Air Station, Lakehurst, NJ. Parachute Rigger school.

We know that the plane I was in was in the air. Calculated that 7 of us were getting ready to go out the back door or were in the air when he was shot. We learned of it about 2 hours later as we were hanging our chutes and the Marine
Capt. that ran our school came in and told us.

We secured till Monday and the biggest gripe was that they were broadcasting news all weekend and we didn't get to watch the Saturday morning cartoons.

So my memory of Nov. 22, 1963 is different than most. Called home to tell them I had jumped, not as common then as now, and all they cared about was Kennedy. :slap:

You may not forget the event, but you forgot the shuttle. :)

It was Columbia.

I wasn't born until 69, so don't remember Kennedy's assassination either, but the other events stick in my head, as does the attempted assassination of Reagan (we were on vacation at the time).

It is my birthday....so I cannot forget. When people ask me what my birthday is on - I tell them the anniversary of Kennedy's assassination.

If anything, they learn something by having to go look it up :seasix:
