Blademaker's thread got me thinking....

and so how many times you guys/gals married, and rough guess how much money spent on the whole scene???

time frames and rough locations of course add into it.....

and where are you now?? relative to all of it, over the years.....

1st wedding I'd like to forget, but can't. The cost was < $1000 and lasted less than 5 years.

2nd wedding cost < $10,000 and has lasted just over 2 months. So far. :D Since Laurie plays for keeps, I'm thinking we'll hit at least 3 months. :D

Wedding in 1987. Cost unknown as her parents paid almost all the tab. Divorce final in 2009. Happier on that same date.

When the ex-MIL wanted to make her first husband part of the ceremony after he cheated her out of thousands in child support, I should have seen the writing on the walls and headed for the hills. Oh well...two awesome kids out of it, so all in all a win for me.

That said, chances are 99.9999997% I won't be participating in such an exercise again. :ack:

Never.
Been with GF for 17 years, lived together for the last 15.
Lack of paper and vows hasn't kept her from leaving yet.
At this point if I popped the question I'm afraid it would just encourage her to hang around even longer. :leaving:

Paid for 2 daughters weddings for less than $25,000 total. The divorce for the first daughter's will cost more than both weddings. :confused5:

Me and my wife spent about $16000 on our wedding and honeymoon. I was 43 and she was 41 and it was our first. We were married in the Catholic church and had a reception with 400 guest. Then we went to Hawaii for 2 weeks. This month will be our 18th anniversary.:cert:

due to our schedules back then, i had to send Mrs. DAB 2 counties over to get the marriage license. $55. she's been getting paid back ever since then. i'm pretty sure she's been more than reimbursed by now, but i haven't demanded an accounting.

1st marriage, 28-1/2 years so far. Wedding was paid for by us, we were poor as church mice, the whole thing was about $400 including three rings. Seriously. No reception. My grandfather (a preacher) married us and charged me $25. Or maybe $50, can't remember. Our honeymoon was in a tent in Branson Missouri. We went to Silver Dollar City one day and a water park the next. That was it. Then we moved into our best man/maid of honor's basement for a few weeks until I found a job (just got out of school) and had enough money for rent somewhere.

Good times, good times.

Once. 12 years. I think we spent ~4K on it, 3K of which was this little chapel. Reception was in the backyard. I paid the nieces and nephews a dime a turd to pick up the bulldog shit.

Where are we now? 3 bulldogs and the math don't work out for a split.

Old bachelor. Pretty certain I will die as one. I still think about a few old girlfriends and wonder about the what-if's (while Elvis sings Memories for the soundtrack in my brain).

We are just starting through this process with my Daughter. She is getting married next October. The cost of everything is outrageous. I think that it will cost about $15K - this is supposedly as small wedding (~100 people attending).

My brother was with his girlfriend for 7 years. Got married and were seperated 2 years later.

It's second marriage for both Mary and I. We were living together for 7 years before I asked her to marry me. ( She made me repeat myself to make sure she heard me correctly  )

This past July we've been married for 15 years and together for 22 years.:hurray:

For the record:
I love my wife. Mostly love the marriage part.
But, I'd never do it again.

And hope I don't have to ever make that decision.

We were married in 2007 in the house we had built. We had just moved in 2 weeks earlier. Wedding cost with everything was under $1000.00. Been married 7 years. Some rough times, some great times. It's a work in progress and we both take things day by day. We'll probably be together until we die regardless of how many bad days we may have, because of how many good days we have.

The movie "This is 40" is a documentary for us...of us. :D

Note: The wedding was a surprise to our guests. They all thought it was a house-warming until the minister stepped up on the landing and announced the real purpose of the gathering.

1st Marriage - German Chick from Frankfurt; Lasted 14 years 2 Kids. Divorce hurt me financially for a long time. 30k debt and much heartache. Found out later she had been untrue for quite a while, numerous times, people wonder why I have trust issues.

2nd marriage - German chick from Gera(Former DDR) Germany, 16 years so far and happily going forward. She handles the money, builds barns on her own, runs the farm, got us out from under all the debt my ex had left me. Mrs. Portdawg is a keeper. Marriage cost us $120.00 in Vegas, 2300 at night in jeans, in a drive-thru place.
