View Full Version : $2 into the dirt
got home from vacation last night, first thing: take doggie for a walk. so off we go. as we reach the bottom of the incline to the arroyo, here come barky dogs #1 and #2. one white appeared on the top of a small rise, the black with white blaze came around the corner and raced nearer to us. pulled my pistol (PX4 in 40 cal), aimed below the white dog and Bang, the black one was in front of the white one, heard the bang, made a hard left turn (running left to right in front of us), he also deserved a Bang (intentionally missing), and off they went back home.
Leah isn't fond of loud pistol noises, so she decided the walk was over, time to return to base.
Hornady Critical Duty 175gr JHP, about $1 each.
those dogs are starting to cost me real money. got back, topped off the magazine, no sight of vicious dogs this morning on our walk.
the black one has bitten me before, so no more 'benefit of the doubt' and offer them a woof cookie. :nono:

Shoot straight next time.
i easily could have hit the white one. the running black one was a tougher shot. got them to go home. mission accomplished. rather like the navy lobbing one across your bow. no need to sink you and have to rescue all the sailors if they can get you to go away.

I could've settled for not killing that last Moccasin I found in my yard.
Didn't want to take the chance of running into him again, for which I figured the chances were right at 100%.

What does a crazy ex-girlfriend and a box of chocolates have in common?
Either one of them will kill your dog.
We have wild coyotes up at the farm. And they would eat my pup. It's one reason I carry my little BuckMark with me when we walk.
I see one come close. I'm firing all 10 shells at him.
the coyotes we've seen on our walks have all turned tail and scooted off. so no shots at them. but if they charge us: same reply as charging vicious dogs: shots at them. but i'd aim at the coyotes, as they are not someone's pet.

The dog's owner should be shot for not controlling his/her animals but you can't do that. Biting dogs should die, end of story. If I were not armed the first time I was bitten, the second time I was rushed by the animal it would be over.

I'd willingly spend the $$ to load up the armadillo tearing up my yard. Damn thing seems to know when I'm carrying.

You've already been chewed on once. Remove the threat before a more serious injury occurs :yesnod:
I like dogs but these obviously have had no social skills training.
Dude, my dogs are well trained and do not bite unless instructed. If you shot and killed one of my dogs, charges would be the LEAST of your problems. Thanks superdouche! GFY
If there's a back story to this, I'm all for hearing it. However, IMHO, if you shot a dog that was not a threat to you, you're a ****ing *****.:seasix:

Reading is fundamental Turk. These dogs are allowed out without direct supervision and have a history of biting people. They need to be dealt with before they latch onto a kid or elderly pedestrian.
Your dogs are apparently in no peril since they are well behaved and under your direct control at all times, right? Chill, bro.
It's a neighbors pet, that they no doubt live and adore. Animal control has talked with them. I have ammo. Lots of ammo. As long as seeing me and shooting at dirt keeps them at bay, I'm ok with that.
On our walk today, saw the dogs, white one barking and wandering in our direction. As we got near to where I shot yesterday, I pulled my gun out and cocked the hammer. My dog heard that and decided it was time to go home. Dogs can learn. Even my idiot one.

Turk- you don't have the "rest of the story."

The black one bit me many months ago. No blood. But ruined pants. Called animal control then. Made a report. Owner is on notice as far as I'm concerned.

To all: I'm sorry for my statements. I'm under an extremely stressful situation right now. My dog is like my son to me as I have no children. I used to live in the heart of Philly where people would harm dogs and cats and leave them in trash cans to die. It seriously broke my heart at times. That's where my asshole response came from.. Again I apologize.

Quality post. :seasix:
No worries. Little different out here in the country. Dog can bark all it wants. Just leave us alone.

I had a similar experience a few weeks ago except I had to shoot the neighbor's dog as our new puppy was nearly killed and it was the only option left to get the dog to release my dog's neck. It was a pretty horrific event and still keeps me up at night sometimes. Thank God Cooper is fully healed now. From that day on, he hasn't left my side. My wife is a little bummed because he was supposed to be her dog.

Decent clean 1/4 acre burb here, I been letting our Chiwawa out front for some time now, but a few daze ago she comes running up the sidewalk fast as hell, and yipping all the way, being chased by some large white/tan/gray heavy head/jaw looked like a Pit to me.....Tinker made it to the driveway, and large dawg saw me and backed off, Tinker had a sore rear leg for about a week, lost some fur, but no blood....she fine now....but no longer begs to be let out front, the back has doors, and fenced off, so no issue out there....
I have guns and a Naval Academy sword, I see that mutt around here, it's open game....
