The guy I purchased my power hacksaw had this drill press and I finally made it down to purchase it.

It's a Walker Turner 15" Driver drill press. It still has the original decals and paint on it. He took the motor apart to replace the cord. He gave up when he saw it was soldered in place.

I'm still trying to figure out a date but it looks to be from the 30's. Evidently the ships wheel is pretty rare too.

I needed to sell my "Craftsman" drill press so I'd have room for this. It's in pretty good shape other than having the motor disassembled. Bearings seem smooth and no ring of shame ( drill marks in the table).

That's all the good stuff, now here's where I'm going to need some help reassembling.

50 bones? Hell of a score I'd say. :yesnod:

Will be nice to tinker with it to get it back up and running.

Throw a new Baldor motor at that bad boy and have at it. Screw that old POS motor. I hope you have the output pully. Easy swap if you do. :cert:

Edit: I see the old pully there. www.grainger.com (http://www.grainger.com)

It'll get put to work once I figure out where the motor pieces go. ( I have a help thread on a vintage machinery forum :seasix: )

Good deal. Give me a call if you get stuck with it. My FIL is a maniac with old machines and has rebuilt many lathes and motors.

Helps when you have an EE degree

I'll try to save the old motor first. Plenty of vintage motors still in use :yesnod:

I remember SKF bearings from back in the day.

Great shape AND you get some playtime putting it back together!

Great old tools you're getting!:seasix:

The guy's Dad tried to "help" with the cord and took off both ends. :banghead: I need to find out what order those pieces go back in and exactly where the wiring hooks up.

You can't let the magic smoke out :nono: It's too hard to put back in the wires :willy:

If it needs rewinding give me a PM. I have a local company that does a great job at that. :seasix:

Why? :confused5:

Started off years ago, on a POS press that I started off with. Some bastard brand I picked up at a yard sale, and it was a bit breaker.
It already had a semi circle on it.
Wasn't too upset when it cooked out.

My current press is unmarred, ditto for my mill.

After discovering some broken wires in the motor, I found an extremely similar but same vintage motor on ebay.

He accepted my offer and this will on it's way to my house shortly :hurray:
