After Heather broke her leg, I had to put the car project on the backburner for a little while...

Here is the short list of things that need to be done:

Fab up the Pump to Carb Fuel line
Ground Strap
Belts
Coolant, Thermostat Housing and Upper Radiator Hose
Tighten Motor Mounts

My BIL was in town yesterday, he helped me reinstall the hood. I have been AGONIZING over this. Wondering if the Vortec Performer RPM would clear the stock small block hood. Well, it does with room to spare. Allstar Performance Drop Base (1.75) with a 14x3 Element. I. AM. GOLDEN.

The cowl induction on the '73+ gives them more clearance than the earlier C3s. I had to go with a lower rise intake because of this when I rebuilt the motor in my '72.

Yeah. There is a bit of a bubble, and even a cutout for the air cleaner as well. Of course I am not running the stock air cleaner setup, I highly doubt it would work with this intake. I made a ball of clay about an inch tall, it didn't smoosh anything at all.

I was worried though, the Vortec RPM is pretty dang tall.

Another thing, this particular drop base was the most significant I could find without going to an L88/LT1 style air cleaner base, which evidently is a full 2 inches of drop. I gambled and bought this one off of Summit, as it was only 1/3 of the cost of the Corvette Specific Base, and only 1/4 inch taller. It worked. :seasix:
