I've never done this before but I assume it starts with a sketch

Walking Dead starts tomorrow. My kid is into it so I thought I'd surprise him.
Disclaimer: Cake may not look anything like my sketch above. Any resemblance to zombies, real or fictional is purely coincidental and not a result of my own cake decorating ability. Which is zero.

That doesn't look look a zombie. Perhaps one of my boxing opponents....

I thought it was Keith Richards.

Too handsome to be Keith.

Hmmmm...interesting...I think I would start with a 9x12
or larger rectangle cake and maybe trim the edges in the shape of a head and torso.
You should be able to find some eyeball halloween candy and bad teeth. Get some ready made red gel icing for blood. It comes in a small size tube.

Done and done.
I'm just staring the second cake now (two layer cake). I mixed up some grey frosting and bought some aerosol food coloring in black, blue and green. Got the red gel and mixed up some corn syrup, food coloring and chocolate syrup for blood.
I've got some eyeballs and I think I'm going to make the teeth from frosting. Not sure.
I'm fairly certain it will look nothing like my sketch.

I think I can modify my pumpkin shaped cake for a zombie head.

Don't forget the knife through the head. You can't eat a zombie cake that does not have a knife in the head. It will eat you first. Everyone knows this. But we just want to make sure you practice your cannibalism safely. :D :leaving:

Sweet!
I had to switch to deep frying some chicken wings and making sauce. Cakes are done and will get carved up and frosted tomorrow. Pics for sure.

Don't know much about Zombies, but just out of curiosity, I googled Zombie Cake .

Dang. I'm not that ambitious. I'm just going to do a flat cake - I'm going to attempt to sculpt a relief based on the sketch. We will see.
I started watching Walking Dead a week ago and I am now on season three episode seven. Took a break today after 9am (and watching seven episodes after waking up this morning) but I will watch another five this evening.
Great show, very cool cake. I am hooked.

Requesting a posted picture of first cut including the knife, which I assume will be in the eye or head.

I thought it was Keith Richards.
Uh, isn't Keith Richards a zombie? I thought he's been dead for years. Just doesn't know it.

The knife was too heavy. It slowly sank down cutting off the zombie at the forehead. It has a TON of frosting. I'll have to scrape it off when I eat it. I hate too much frosting.
