interior is immaculate-I don't use that word loosely with used cars either.

The bad news is that the pass. door got screwed up when the car shifted in the trailer it was in...got a discount- enough to get the bottom of the door repainted. Also I have to fix an oil cooler line leak that is common to the LT5. Trying to get it ship-shape in the next week or so.

I'm not really the car keeping type, but this one is clean so it should be a looker for years to come. Also, a black 91 ZR-1 has sentimental value to me since it was the first vette I ever drove.

hopefully I'll find time to get the new tires mounted soon. I took my chances on my midnight shakedown run last night with 10-15 year old rubber...lets just say the ABS works. gotta spend some quality time in the DMV before the week is out too.:willy:

Care to tell us how much it set you back?

about $20k. I went back and forth about getting nothing, getting another LT1 car of some sort for half the price, or a ZR-1 that wasn't too damn much.

I even thought about cashing out my '08 C6 and putting all the money towards a C6-Z06, but no way I'm gonna give Cali that kind of tax and lic money. The planets really aligned for me to have the C6, that deal is not going to repeat soon- so I'm still happy with it.

The one thing that remains to be seen is if the C4-ZR market is bottomed out or if they will continue to depreciate to the $5k-$10k range. In some ways I think they could as they are still a quirky, ill-constructed, 90's era GM car- although there is a minimum level due to part-out value.

Mike, I agree. The Corvette Tax in CA is crazy. Buy a E-Force Edelbrock S/C and hook and gab!

oh, believe me, I thought about that too. Not gonna be able to buy any more toys this year though. Probably will take me 6 months to get this new car in order- which is fine...it will keep me busy. dumb stuff like fixing the radio, a couple of odds and ends that all the C4's need. still have to pay for the tires and sales tax...kind of takes the wind out of your wallet's sails.

I am curious. What is ill-constructed about it? Surely you don't mean the LT5?

I could work on it myself, but I can imagine labor costs are high as well. But if they came down that low........

I think you bought that one at bottom out price. A clean, low mileage ZR will stay in that price range. I believe even if you put 25k miles on it in the next 5 yrs, it would still go for what you bought it at.

That would be nice. I sold my 95 LT1 car for $500 less than I paid, not including repairs and stuff, but still, I never even bought tires for the year I had it...turned out to be a pretty affordable car.

The 91 ZR could be a good resale down the road (I'm not banking on it though), but you have to pay a lot more to find out.

My 2008 is still faster, of course, but at least now I still feel like I have a fast car with whichever ride I take...the LT1...not so much if I drove the C6 for a couple of days.
