View Full Version : I was really blown away by this......
Marcus came home last night to spent the day today, as tomorrow is my 60th birthday. He told me I have a gift for you, and brought this out to me. I was shocked that he did this, with help from DAB. The inscription came from a time back in 2004 when we had 3 hurricanes in as many weeks. I was told I was a "bit" obsessive about keeping all of the meat in the freezer on ice and cooking up as much as possible. Anyway, I have been reminded of that since, hence the motto "Save the Meat".
I would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Douglas for creating this work of art and to Marcus for getting this done.

Took a few days to make. Little back and forth with Marcus getting the art work just right.
Happy Birthday. Don't be afraid to use it.

It will get used, can't wait to fire up the smoker as soon as our porch remodel is done.
This is why I keep a small supply of hardwoods. Driving down to Albuquerque to buy one board is just not worth the time and effort. Spend more on gas than on the lumber.
One more thing: I normally make cutting boards 1-3/4" to 2" thick. This one is 2-1/4" thick. Little more mass to keep it stable. Took some work to get it dead flat on both sides. Checked against a slab of granite.
First time I've agreed with every poster in a thread in a long time.
Doing the lettering: a little tedious.

If your name is Ron and your birthday is tomorrow, then you are a winner.
