iOS 8 seems to have solved the embedded video issue on the forum. :hurray:
Tested in Safari, Chrome, Atomic, and Mercury browsers, all are displaying and playing the vids every time, no matter which way they're embedded.
Haven't had a lot of time with it yet...But so far, haven't found anything wrong with this update. It's working quite well, and all my apps are working fine.

Happy day!
I was wondering when they would. Thanks for the update. :hurray:

I've not found anything to complain about yet...Some minor changes in browser behavior, the predictive text suggestion while typing is a great addition! (an Android feature I love and use a lot).
I complained plenty after installing 7...Though the (appearance) changes this time aren't nearly as profound, what I do see different is improved.
If you want to wait a day or so, I'll have more time to discover things..But right now, I'm saying get this update, you'll be quite happy. :yesnod:

Good news. I'll wait a few days before I upgrade.
IOS 7 was a terrible upgrade. I wish I'd never done it.
IOS 7 was the first upgrade that I ever had problems with, too. Apple really dropped the ball on that one.

Trying it on my iPad. Easy to roll back.
Any other issues, good or bad, Re: 8 vs 7?
I have upgraded my phone and iPad and so far so good. I have read that any 4c or 4s phones are much slower with the new iOS so if you are on at least a 5x you should be fine.

:iagree:
I do like the tabbing between apps and "recent contacts" that pops up at the top right now, and app updates seem MUCH faster than they used to be, but Apple may have more dedicated servers for updates spun up right now for the mass upgrades that are happening.
Time will tell, but iOS8 seems to be pretty good.
Just yesterday I downgraded my iPad to iOS 7. I hate it.
Should I restore iOS 6 or upgrade to iOS 8?

One significant bug I've noticed so far...
I wanted to see if the image orientation problem persisted when uploading attachments directly from an iOS device, so I tried making a thread to attach a couple images I just took.
When creating the thread and clicking "add attachment", the popup window appeared fine, but you then get the option of "take new" or "choose existing", and selecting either option will instantly crash and close the browser...Did this on Atomic, Chrome, and Mercury.
Safari didn't crash and let me choose a pic, but returned an error when uploading it.
I did double-check to be sure there was no privacy/sharing control on my photo gallery, as that's where the problem seems to occur - accessing the photos.
I was able to attach a pic using Forum Runner.

And I'm upgraded.
Unreal! iOS8 is freaking 5.8 gigs??? I have a 16GB 5s with hardly anything on it. I have to delete a LOT of shit just to perform the upgrade??? This is via OTA, haven't tried the synch method yet... Anyone else having this problem. I'm almost ready to grab the brand new S5 I have and sell this freaking iPhone if the OS is that freaking bloated!:issues:

Unreal! iOS8 is freaking 5.8 gigs??? The download size is about 1 GB.
It only requires 4.6GB or whatever of free space during the installation process, because there's basically a period of time where you have both OS versions stored on the device. Once it's installed, you'll have most of that space available again.

Thanks, I just spent over an hour on the phone with verizon and was told that was the case for the 5c. I was advised that there have been a LOT of issues updating via OTA (WiFi). I don't have the energy left to actually synch my phone via iTunes tonight but supposedly that will solve the problem.
In layman's terms, I believe it's an (iCloud) related issue. The verizon rep after speaking with "advanced tech" agreed... Just friendly FYI for anyone experiencing similar problems with low capacity iPhones, I was told about 10 times that the old school way will work. If I have time in the morning, I'll report back.:cert:

The upgrade went well on my iPad. I like the changes thus far - much better than 7.
It didn't fare as well with my 5s, though. The update failed with "an unknown error". Now in the middle of a complete reset and restore. Probably due to low memory I had before the install, but typically I get a warning if there's not enough memory to perform an update.
I should have temporarily deleted a bunch of music before trying the update...
BTW, both updates were performed through iTunes.

What iPad do you have? I put iOS7 on my iPad3 not long after it came out and it's fine, and upgraded to iOS8 yesterday and so far so good.

I had 5.2 gig available on my 32 gig 5s phone and I think that's just enough to do the upgrade because it seems to be doing it. On "Preparing Update..." currently.

I don't store much for large files, don't install that many apps, and don't usually keep devices long enough to think space would ever become an issue...I've never opted to spend more for the additional capacity.
But now seeing my (not even a year old) 16GB iPad Air only has 5.2 free, I will get the 64GB version of the iPhone for sure. :yesnod:

I'm glad I went up to 32 gig when I got the 5s, that's for sure. I have about 1600 songs and 2000 photos on my phone currently. Need to get rid of some of that I think. :island14:

The TCM app also crashes on opening. Many of my apps were just updated for IOS8.
Maybe the non- working ones will be ok after updates are available.

You seriously don't like iOS7? Because why? Works fine, looks fine, haven't had any issues other than the YT video thing on this forum.

My favorite new feature is having Siri read me the text on the screen. She read me some lyrics from 2 Live Crew last night.....

Not bricking, but have heard it's slow on a 4 or 4s. No surprise there really. Same thing was said about iOS7 on the 4. Anyway, got all my stuff updated to iOS8 and all seems well.
Before I do any major update I always back my devices up onto my PC via iTunes. Anyone who fails to do so and then has a problem due to a failed update has zero sympathy from me. It's like loading a new OS on your PC without having a backup.

Upgraded to the IOS8 on my iPad 2. No issues so far. VERY happy to see the embedded video problem fixed.
My Mom has upgraded her iPad 4 and her iPhone 5. No issues so far.

I did have a bit of a problem after updating my 5s iPhone. The bluetooth connection to my MDX broke and I could not get it to reconnect. Shrugged it off, and later connected to my Bose Soundlink Mini via bt and that worked fine. Almost immediately I saw the Hands Free connection listed, started the MDX up and went to the sync screen, synced up no problem then. Other than that it's been solid.

This thing's startin' to piss me off.
It appears the predictive text is crashing Safari. I'm talking about the options it throws ul over the letters of the keyboard as you're typing. Wish there was some way of turning it off.
Safari has locked up and even completely crashed several times in the last hour I've been spammin' up this place with my meaningless drivel.

Dont know if that really "turns it off", but you won't see the suggestions.

No. At another website I tried typing dbstalk.com twice and both times it crashed when I backspaced because it changed it to do stalk.com. Really? Yes.
Installed iOS 8 on my iPad 4 today. I still prefer the look and feel of iOS 6.

iOS 6 really was the bomb.

09-22-2014, 6:04am
Ok. Joke's over. Give me back IOS 6.
I hate iOS 8 only a tad less than I hated iOS 7. It's clunky, it's junky, it jerks and halts, pauses, and crashes. It's at times painfully slow and always a pain in the ass.
Seems like ever since Steve Jobs died, Apple has taken the stance that they really don't need to beta test their software before they release it.
F U C K you, Apple. Imma start calling you Crapple. You deserve it.

Thanks! It seems that by dragging the little window on the keyboard down to hide the predictive text also turns it off. The problem of crashing seems to have gone away for now at least.
