I am in Naples for the week and we have a dock right on the canal. I keep seeing these big schools of fish go by not sure what they are. I caught a few channel catfish yesterday. Also some large silver fish jumped out and grabbed my line this morning but I didn't catch it. Any advice? what are these big school fish I see? they kind of look like carp.

I am going to guess they are Mullet. Do you see them jump out of the water and fly from time to time? I think they are tough to catch conventionally - I see guys use nets and treble hooks to snag them. They are smoked most often iirc

I think they are mullet, the other fish appear to be suckers

If they are "carp looking"-have to be mullet.

The big silver ones are most likly tarpon, the smaller ones are as said above mullets, two kinds, red and gray mullets, usually range 6-10 inches in size.

The tarpon are a awesome fighting fish if you have gear to hook them!

Mullet for sure.

Toss a watermelon red worm or a baby brushhogwith a 1/8 bullet weight on it around structure. Could catch some bass
