Drip rails

Ive got some rusty drip rails that need replacing. I dont want to pay out the rear for a new set . Has anyone ever cut these out and used something other than the assembly ? Any tips ?

checked it out, a pair is $600.00 . Thats the best deal so far but I think i'll make'em before paying that. Their prices seem fair though. Anybody ever made any ? Real common area to rust in the mid-south east.
