WTF does this mean? I have been browsing the interweb sites for a decent C10, something usable as a daily/hot rod/utility vehicle. I see vehicles that are grossly overpriced and then the seller ads "no low ballers". Is this a new rule? Oh, I can't give you what I think is a good starting offer because you made rules? I guess I will just give you asking price then. Oh, thinking of selling my Coupe, 133K, lots of rock chips, tear in the drivers seat, minor electrical issues due to it leaks in the rain, new tires. Asking $30,000, no low ballers. :seasix:

It means he won't get any bids. If it's on CL-the cheap SOB deserves every scam e-mail he will get.

I was selling my 77 vette about 10 years ago. The thing had a new frame, chipped LT1 and ZF6 with 45k on them out of a 92, and a brand new aluminum radiator and I was asking 6500 for it,Yeah it still needed some work like some minor fiberglass repair (Cracked seam) and paint as well as a little interior repair but my 6500 asking price was specified as FIRM and WELL worth it. The dickweed that came and looked at it first offered me 3500 and said no more than 4500, I sent him on his way

THAT is a low ball.

I have had incidents like that when I sold vehicles off my lawn on a busy roadway. Those incidents were enough for me to trade in a vehicle rather than playing games with mostly idiots out there.

I always set a fair price and allow some room for the dickering process to take place. it never fails you get some clown who seems to think you need the money bad and offers you a super low amount in hopes of making a score.

Another type is the person looking at a LOADED vehicle(with a sign detailing what’s in the truck( and telling you your asking too much. All they understand is the prices of stripper vehicles and base it on that. I had one guy waste my time coming to the house a few times and after I sold it, but still on the lawn said wow I did not realize that truck was that good and made a decent offer. I was very happy to tell him it was sold and in the future you should understand what you are looking at!

No fair, the rules clearly say no low balling, even though that is not too far off.

What year C10 are you looking for? The Grand Rod Run is in Pigeon Forge, next w/e. Thousands of cars there and most are for sale.

Been looking at late 70's to mid 80's. Not as desirable, but the same truck in the 60-early 70's seems to be 2x-3x the price. Watching this one:

yes I did, 3 weeks later a guy from the "other place" flew up, drove it and paid me with a cashiers check that day. A week later it was loaded onto a trailer and taken to Maryland. I told him the low ball story and he laughed his ass off. He said my price was more than reasonable and he didn't even try to haggle.

As a seller over the years I get sick of idiots low-balling me. By LOWBALL, I mean ridiculously low. Don't waste my time! I'm open to reasonable negotiation but there is a limit to my patience. New Canadians (and 'Mericans I expect)....are the worst! I don't care what your barter system is in your country, you are here now. :slap:
Now I put the price I want with a FIRM after it. That weeds 'em out. :seasix:

Agreed, Typically in the U.S. you can haggle up to 15 percent of what the person is asking UNLESS they are on the mark or asking ridiculous money. IE if I was asking for 10 grand for my 77 I would have been moronic. I asked exactly what the car was worth, not "worth TO ME" but actual VALUE. I had seen 77's in worse shape with the original motors, rust issues and auto trans go for what I was asking for mine and it was in perfectly drivable condition. She wasn't the prettiest thing but she was nice in all the right places.

that's all it takes. But to spell out "no lowballers" in the ad is just asking for the shiet to be flung .

When I see FIRM FIRM FIRM....I see it as.."This is how much I really think its worth..or how much I really need ot get for it"...please offer me somewhere close to that.

When I see NO LOWBALLERS...I see "Im a dickhead who thinks he knows it all about this vehicle, this vehicle is an extension of myself, and if you arent willing ot pay me book..plus cash value for all modifications, plus my time...dont bother"

When someone posts a link to the NADA or KBB website for value...I really rip em a new asshole.

Im going to look at a truck again that Id initially not considered after I looked at it the first time last week...it had some issues, and he was insistent it was worth 3500...so now his ad has the KBB value link in it..at 4350 for GOOD, or whatever...

So..Ive figured in, speedometer repair, needs new adjustable rockers to fis a ticking top end, needs injectors, and a very small amount of body work, as well as a complete cleaning inside.

Im figuring...4350, minus the cost of me doing all the repairs to make it RIGHT again..to make it GOOD condition....will cost me about 1550 dollars. So 4350 - 1550 = 2800, which is what im going to offer them for it. Its not selling at 3500..for a reason, the price is not right...

What i do is i send respectful email saying i know you want x but i am only willing to pay y. If you don't sell at x and are willing to entertain y call me at xxx-yyyyy and lets talk.

Sometimes they call within hours other times it takes weeks. Sometimes they just don't call at all.

It's a crap shoot.

Yea, noticed that. May ask a few questions, that being one of them. Things that bother is I don't really want a stepside and the bed is really nice and I want to be able to use it as a truck. He really doesn't say much about the running gear. I want something that I can tow the Corvettes with if needed, so I need to see if it is suitable for that.

Ahh yes, I'm trying to sell my C4 right now and while I'm not getting stupid offers, I am having to deal with those who think all C4s are worth the same amount and don't realize that saving a couple of thousand up front on a clapped out ride will cost them way more down the road than if they'd just buy a good car to start with

:slap: Lowballers suck sweaty donkey balls...

The first thing they do is pizz off a seller. Nice way to start a negotiation :spdchk:

(Disclaimer: Unless the seller is being a douche by asking 10x the going rate, then it's OK) :D

What if the seller lowballs himself? :bigears:

There's a car for sale about an hour away from me. Several ads with crappy photos and an asking price of $1500. Guy posted another ad a couple of days ago, with decent photos (dated last year), with a lower price of $800 firm.

Sent the guy an email yesterday, asking a few questions. He replied with, $500 if you take it right away. I replied to that, asking a few more questions, and requesting another couple of photos. Haven't heard from him again.
