View Full Version : Another Holiday Weekend is Here
Because nothing says celebrating a national holiday like having a speed trap around every corner and behind every bridge abutment and billboard.
Yet another "No Refusal Weekend" is upon us, which is code for "extra cops are getting overtime to hassle motorists".
Yes, it's supposed to be heightened enforcement of DWI laws, but in practice, it's "let's pull over as many motorists as we can."
You better not speed, you better not have expired plates, you better not have a tail light out I'm tellin' you why, extra cops are comin', to town.
Full disclosure: never been stopped in one of these "high enforcement" holiday weekend traps. It's just a little unnerving to see so many cops on the roadways, all aiming their radars at me like I am a criminal.

Was out in the vette yesterday, cruising along...passed an unmarked white van on the side of the road...realized as I was passing he had the radar gun on me. I checked...I was exactly on the speed limit. Up yours, Big Brother!:D

This is what happens when police enforcement becomes a profit center.
If we really wanted to end drunk driving we would be brutal to those who drive drunk. Yet we fail too way too often.

Everything you mentioned is a good thing and the documents you speak of should be current like the rest of us, plus if pulling over a drunk saves one life it is worth the overtime. Pick battles against useless firemen or useless teachers I might agree with you:seasix:

Not a profit maker there. An immigration run would be more like it. :cert:
