Anyone have a graph showing the size of cell phones over time? Remember when you could operate a phone with one hand? This is ridiculous

some of those past phone-only cells were too small; felt like I was trying to communicate to a box of TicTacs.

I loved the original Razr flip; opened up... it felt more along the lines of a real phone handset.

Thank god for smartphones; portable computing needs a LARGE display.

It's not the length, it's the width.

Here is my new phone compared to my old one. I would have kept the old one if it wasn't dying.

It's not the length, it's how you use it.

Fixed.

Like one that had to be carried in a bag?

One thing I will comment on, with respect to phones:

Everyone made fun of me with my "flip" phone that just made calls. However, those same people didn't get pocket dialed calls from me all the time, as they do now that I have a "smart" phone. Phone doesn't seem that smart to me. If it was so smart, it would know not to call anyone when it is in my pocket.

Ive got an LG G2 and I love it, its not too big or bulky, very useful, does not butt dial or anything due to a proximity sensor that puts it to sleep if it comes on next to something, like a pocket.

Previous phone was n LG flip, go phone...loved it, had it for 4 years, set it on fire, run over it with a mower, fell out my pocket on a gokart at 50mph....wasl iterally broken in half...and still worked perfectly.

Hell, I goofed last week...I put my G2 (and carbon case) in my trucks visor...something Ive never done before. I flipped the visor at 35mph and it went out the open window...I could see it tumbling down the road end over end, at least 6-7 feet in the air. Came ot rest perfectly in the centerline...I retrieved it, case had some damage, but the LG was untouched.

Thank your case, I have a Nexus 4 which is made by LG and is a similar phone. I had it in my lap and got out of the car. It hit the concrete and got a small crack on the screen. Everything worked but the touch screen. I've seen iPhones with completely shattered screens still work fine.

BTW I hate cases because of similar reasons this thread was started, too bulky.

I can think of the hate list.

What's on the "love" list?

I think my Nexus 4 is about perfect, plus no aftermarket skin.

I hope there is a 6, not sure I'll get a 5.

I've got an S3 with an OtterBox case and it works great for me. :yesnod:

Try Android without the Samsung crap, you'll love it.

I had my first G2 for 7 months, no case...took it everywhere, dropped it everywhere...no problems.

Fell 2 feet onto tile...put a crack across the screen and only half of it worked. 200 dollars later..I had a new phone, and a case. 2 days later I dumped it out the truck window...haha

Of course now the G3 is out.....f*ck me.

Ya, or like one that could be strapped to my leg. :yesnod:

Samsung Note 3. The large display is great. I like being able to see what is actually on the phone instead of turning it sixteen different ways.

Nokia 8890. And it was designed to spin when it rang if you had it standing up.

Aside from the size, the phone is great. I hope the 4.4.2 update doesn't screw it up

I had the 8860, the chrome phone with internal antenna. Paid a fortune for that thing.
Crappy reception and great at pocket-dialing...But damn it looked cool. :Jeff '79:

Still have it in fact...Here it is sitting on top of my Galaxy S4:

I agree with the "too big" trend though. My current S4 is just a bit too big for my liking. The S5 is even bigger...no thanks. Larger screen is nice, but I already have a tablet and don't need a phone that tries to be one, prefer something comfortable in hand and in pocket.

My next phone will be the 4.7" iPhone 6 when it's released in Sept. :yesnod:

Iphone5 here. (Company provided) No case. Hate those stupid bulky cases. And no belt clip.
I'd like a larger screen but not at the expense of it not fitting in my pocket.

I have an office but work in an agricultural/factory environment. A case is necessary. I got one of those $80 lifeproof (http://www.lifeproof.com/shop/us_en/galaxy-s5-cases/galaxy-s5-case/?color=Black+%2F+Black) cases. It doesn't make the phone bulky because the phone itself is thin as hell. Even with the case, it is about the same thickness as my old phone without a case. Those Otterboxes (at least the old ones) were ginormous

I hope the 4.4.2 update doesn't screw it upS5 should already have that..What's in it now? :confused5:

Updated mine to 4.4 a couple months ago. For some reason the phone rebooted itself mid-update. After that happened, phone would turn on, but stuck at the Samsung logo start screen and would do nothing beyond that.
Had to boot it into recovery mode, then it resumed updating, which completed successfully. No problems after that. Battery life seems much improved.

That's not a phone, it's a phablet.

The S5 is just a bit bigger than the S3. I went from an S3 to an S5 and love it, but I have really big hands.
