Getting ready to cook two chickens on the Primo. Make a nice marinade out of chipotle, pickled serranos, and lime. Got that ready and asked my wife "OK, where are the chickens?" Sometimes we stick them in the garage fridge, sometimes in the indoor fridge.

We look at each other and then it dawns on us. Stopped at Sam's Club, got gas, bought the chickens, put them in the back of my MDX around noon today. And there they sat. :wtf:

No way am I eating chicken that sat in the back of my car for almost five hours in my garage, which is at about 80 degrees currently. So my wife is on a Sam's run as I type this.

You are going to cook them anyway. It would kill anything bad. Which I don't think had time to happen...I wouldn't have been afraid of them. But that is just me.

If you are planning on cooking the chicken thoroughly, I wouldn't think that 5 hours off temp would really make any difference. Whatever salmonella or other critters are on the chicken are already there, I doubt that 5 hours at near room temp are going to suddenly make that chicken weaponized grade. I'd cook it and eat it, but that's just me. Danger is my middle name.

:iagree:

If someone found a roadkill chicken and it is not stiff and smelly yet, it would get cooked for sure.

Lots of people here do not have a fridge, so leave leftover cooked chicken out till the following day and recook again to be safe.

I will eat it, and no problems that I know of.. :island14:

That may be an acquired resistance to disease. Chicken left out of the refrigerator don't just develop microbial problems; it also produces deadly chemicals that aren't removed by recooking.

Biggest problem I have found is you have to hang the cook pot by a wire from the ceiling to keep the cats from stealing it.

We have a fridge by the way.. :D

+1 on the fresh birds. Even if you cook the bacteria to death, it may just taste crappy.

If they were in the car in the shade I'd check the temperature. If they weren't too hot I'd cook them.

200 degree core temps for 20 minutes will eradicate whatever might make you sick. It might taste a bit "off", but no other side effect to worry about.

And, oh... can we come over tomorrow night for "leftovers"???????:cert:

We have a bunch, just three of us eating all that. Think we almost ate about 40% or so. The salad was great. Avocado, cherry tomatoes, dill, mint, goat cheese, white balsamic, olive oil, something like that.

I don't live in the Philippines but if I did, I'd condone that. And cat eating. The Koreans know, oh, they know.
