as much as I do? I grow Kandy Korn EH (Enhanced Hybrid), a yellow corn that has big 8 inch ears filled with 14 to 16 rows of tender, creamy kernels that combine high sugar content with the ability to hold at prime eating stage (not turning to starch) for a week or more.
Tonight I picked and ate 5 ears of that sweet stuff soaking in butter with some Kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper on it.

Ok.. serious now.
I love corn, especially fresh corn on the cobb.
The problem here is the soil I think maybe, for the most part we only get small corn, and not the tender type we find back home in the USA
Every now and then I see good size delicious looking corn and buy it at a glance fast before anyone else can.
I posted up some pics of some last year but not sure where they went now.
I have had to do a trade off for the most part, rarely get good corn, but do get plenty of great mangos..

Love it! A local farmer grows the peaches and cream variety. It is super sweet. The Amish mkt. also has some great sweet corn. I get the yellow, but they have a variety in white and one multicolor. I should try the others next time. They also have a yellow tomato that I tried - very good. Less acidic.
I soak my corn in water for awhile. Then throw it on the grill and let it steam in the husk. Peel back the husk and snap it off easily by hand.
A lot of people will put up a couple dozen ears in their freezer to get through the winter.

Grilled corn is delicious! I prefer it fresh from the stalk done like this: Cut off both ends of the ear far enough back so that the husk will slide off easily after cooking. Put the ears in a covered microwaveable dish with a little water in the bottom of the dish. If you have a high-watt microwave (1100 and above), microwave two ears for 1 min. 30 secs. It will be very hot and done.
Using cooking gloves, simply grasp the husk around the smaller end of the ear and let the corn fall free from the hisk. There will be little silk to clean off. Butter, salt, and pepper and enjoy!

The BEST is silver queen, found on the DelMarVa. Small white tender juicy kernels. Sweet as sugar candy.
Lots of real butter salt and pepper.

Lars, try some Sugar-Enhanced yellow corn, like Kandy Corn...I think you'll find it is even sweeter and better than Silver Queen.

And that's another bonus.....as a colon cleanse! Works like a charm because you can't digest the outer corn husks, hence the term corn floaters! :flush:

Oh my....my Grandfather used to grow Kandy Korn but I have not seen any of that in years. That was the best dang corn I ever had.
Where did you find the seeds for that?
And yes, there are not too many things that are better in the summer than fresh corn and home grown tomatoes
Love it, of course...I am from Iowa. :)
Stinking hail storm destroyed my tomatoes, peppers & cucumbers last month...so all my veggies are way behind schedule.
Farmers are starting to bring their sweet corn to town...so in the next week or so I will start having it. :smiliedrool:
