Spend 2 or 3 hours driving out into the Columbia River Gorge. It's spectacular and not far from Portland.

Go check out Multnomah Falls. It's about 30 minutes up the Gorge. Or, drive the opposite direction to Astoria. Besides that, there are plenty of hookers and lots of blow downtown.

There's a world class Japanese garden in Portland.
The Portland Japanese Garden is a traditional Japanese garden occupying 5.5 acres, located within Washington Park in the west hills of Portland, Oregon, USA
Have you been to Portland before? I'm pretty sure first timers are required by law to eat at this place:

Considered one of the top ten seafood restaurants in the nation, Jake's Famous Crawfish has been a downtown Portland landmark for more than 110 years. (http://www.mccormickandschmicks.com/locations/portland-oregon/portland-oregon/sw12thave.aspx)

Check into any McMenamin's

Excellent food, great beer, awesome atmospheres!!
Also, if you're a reader, you will DEFINITELY want to check out Powell's, they are a landmark there. 1 store, but several buildings worth of books, new and used. Fantastic selection. One whole bldg and floor dedicated to just technical books and journals.
