Well it was a big day today. Next month, my son is leaving to start at the University of Arkansas. I'm officially an empty nester. :sadangel:
Since I'm not chained to a school district any longer, and I don't need to heat and cool 3000 sq. ft. for myself and the dog, I've decided to sell the house in the suburbs and move back to Ft. Worth. Smaller house, smaller lot, nice neighborhood, close to downtown, etc. So last night my house was put up on the MLS. Two people saw it today. The second people to see it made a full price PLUS $2000 offer. We didn't even put up a friggin' sign!!!!
I'm outta this Godforsaken podunk town!

Very nice Mike! Not a reason in the world to maintain all the extra space now.
Will be sad to see sonny boy move on though. :(

Have you picked out a new place yet?

Did you have a dedicated fap room? Im told that a fap room really makes a home sell faster. Also, taking pictures in low light, and crooked, from odd angles...and of the outside when its all boarded up.....these all help a home sell faster.

Maybe look into just south of FW, a buddy lives in Crowley for some 40 years now....nice quiet burb, about 3 miles one way West from the Miller brewery on the south Freeway.....

Used to live close to Crowley. No thanks. Nothing there but houses.

I have. We're drawing up paperwork tonight. It's about 2000 sq ft in a very nice area of Ft. Worth closer to downtown. Shopping, restaurants, etc. and home values are increasing because of the renovations to the area. I'm done with the sleepy little towns, overzealous police enforcement and screwed up city government.
My original plan was to buy a high rise condo in downtown, but that really isn't practical for me. Even if I sell a lot of stuff...I still have stuff. ;)

Yep.
That place is $200bux+ per foot here.

I do, but it's small. The house was built in 1940, so not the biggest of garages but it'll do. It's been renovated so it's sturdy.

I'd love to go condo someday. Don't know if I could pull it off. I envy those that can live that way though.
The non rental non vacation buildings around here are million dollar units :willy:
I'll probably end up in a double-wide in some 55+ community :Jeff '79:

Living in a condo isn't all that it's cracked up to be.....
Lived in one in Naples for a while on a golf course. My biggest complaint is I only could have one assigned parking space and all the HOA rules in place. Was lucky enough that the lady next to me really didn't understand the parking between the lines concept. There were benefits, it was in a very upscale area of Naples, lots of old money, never had to worry about riffraff moving in. Quite area, in a gated golf community, great views. I'd consider it again. But house living is preferable just because of privacy, and you can do what ya want

It would go for perhaps $300k here, but not really likely because of all the new construction. Since you can build new for about what many people are asking for their 20 year old homes, people are just building new and there are plenty of lots in the city limits if that's what you want.
Edit: Just looked at all the pics. He might have been about to get the asking price here if the location was decent. That's a pretty nice place for being built in 1981, obviously extensively remodeled and pretty cool out building, pool, and tennis court.

Nice looking place. I'm putting a house on the market today and could only wish I'd get an offer that quick. I know it will take a while but you never know.
Do you have a new place picked out yet or are you looking? If you have one lets see it as well.

I'm trying to imagine what I could get for 200k elsewhere in the country, because that house you're leaving would easily be over a million here in South Jersey. Very nicely done sir.

I'm sure you'll like the new place. We're empty nesters, too and our 1600 sq ft is all I need and want to maintain. The daughter lives five houses down from us, so we're close to family. One thing we have found with my wife having arthritis is we're glad there are no steps and we're all on one level.:yesnod:
