I threw another window in Saturday & Sunday. All by myself. The header and window were a bit tricky but I got 'em all roughed in and sealed up. :seasix:

Thanks Scott.
The roof was professionally done three years ago and was the first thing that I had done. Seems the back roof was never redone, consequently the back wall was pretty bad due to water leaks. I'm actually glad that I had to redo the entire wall because it's so much better with all of the new light that those windows let in. Total cost for the actual windows was $300 and they'll out last my life time. The metal roof & fascia was $12k. I'm starting to see the end of the tunnel....:seasix:
I wish that G & Datawiz could do it, as the entire thing would be done in 3 weekends...:Jeff '79:

Man! What a bitch!
I went to remove the corner door and the entire corner was rotted, concrete and all
An 8"x 8" corner post was totally eaten, rotted , whatever.:omg:
Oh well... I pinned my ears back and got to it. The demo of the final 35' kicked my ass. Raccoon shit, 80 year old dust and you name it fell on me. 80°+ weather wasn't a joy either. I rebuilt the concrete, the entire corner, plates and sills and shored it up to the max. I actually had to cut the top plate back 4' and rebuild it.

Ya no shit. Just the constant clean up was a bitch in itself, let alone building and lifting headers, etc....
Thank God my cousin made an appearance last night and helped me lift the last window in, otherwise I could have done it but it would have sucked. He deafened me driving in on this as he gunned the swine.

I don't know yet. It's not insulated for the most part and has a large area cut into the loft for an eventual car lift.
I'm going to build a clean storage room which will be heated but 4000 sq ft. is a lot to heat, so it won't all be heated.

You're missing a great freedom by not riding. You and the cycle out in the elements as one unit. If difficult to proper explain but the ride is good for the soul. :yesnod:

Ha! It was Florida humid though.
Yesterday it was 95° in the sun, but 84°ish in the barn.
It was a sweat box from the get go on Friday & Saturday.
Wednesday and Thursday were totally comfortable at 83° with no humidity.:cert:

:yesnod: Abso-fricken-lutely.
You've got a single level, wide area space with lots of free hardwood nearby.
Oh yeah.
I ran an old Harman a few years back and it was fantastic for heat and could be setup to burn overnight once I got the air intake and flue dialed in.
Barn looks awesome brutha. I gotta get up there to see it one of these days.
I've been trying to schedule a trip to get up to see Mikey in the far North. You're on the way :shots:

Mikey is a good 2½-3 hours from the border and I'm 35 minutes.
Just gimme a heads up if your coming up this way and we'll check out The Falls and I'll give you the quick tour of Buffalo.
Well when the time comes to think about heat, after the floor is in, that will probably be what I do. That's a couple of years down the road though.

Well.... I'm almost done for the season.
Some filling & trim work, some touch-up painting and trim painting, and I've reached my goal for this summer season.
I have to make the cross buck trim for the barn door and affix the latch on the bottom as well. I need to paint the ceiling grates and put them back up too. I have to get the plugs connected and replace the unsightly lights.
The hard part is over !!! YAY!!! :shots:
For the before pics, go to Post # 1 and Post # 17... These are of another 50' of barnage....

Design Question???
Do you think that I should make four crossbucks, one in each of the four quadrants of the door or just one big one?
Keep in mind that there will be a white 2x4 crossing the center, where those brackets are, as a bar to keep the door closed.
Oh, and I'm thinking of widening the hole in the ceiling and manufacturing a lift.

If you put fluorescents up, go with the T5's vs T-8's. You wouldn't believe how much light a 2 8' bulb T5 puts out, much brighter than the T8's. Of course, you could go LEDs, nice, but pricy.

Norm, I think that it was you who recommended them to me a while back, when I reno'd the other half, and ya, I did put them up. :yesnod:
I used the double four footers , six feet apart. They are small and throw a lot of light so that is exactly what I will finish the rest off with...:seasix:
I just may follow your recommendation and go with eight footers . The electricity savings is quite substantial too, as compared to standard flourescents or regular light bulbs.

Just me except for some help with installing the garage door and framing the first two windows in. My buddy is doing the extension jams and casings on the windows too. I hired a crew to do the roof. Other than that, I sure wish that I had a few messicans, because it's all me. One more summer and the interior will be done and ready for concrete. It'll be 2 years in October that I had started the interior reno. We're getting there....:yesnod:
