I once had a sales rep at a dealership tell me that he would rather not sell me the car than for me that hit them hard on the customer service survey after their finance guy tried to fukc me.
So to me this was a very good read.
How To Use The Car Dealership Survey As Leverage To Get A Better Deal (http://carbuying.jalopnik.com/how-to-use-the-car-dealership-survey-as-leverage-to-get-1595835486?utm_campaign=socialflow_jalopnik_facebook&utm_source=jalopnik_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow)

alers set up their commission scale generally based on units sold with an additional "kicker" for maintaining a Survey score over the regional average. Half true. Commission based on sold units, yes. Additional bonus is based on total units, not survey. Some states allow the franchise to give a unit bonus for each vehicle sold as a bonus, but Texas is not one of those. When I was at Hyundai in Illinois, I got $150 for every Hyundai I sold, because my CSI was over 95%, the minimum bonus was $50. None of that paid by the dealer though.
I've seen sales reported to salesperson family members, burner phones or worst case, the local pizzeria, no score is better than a bad score.
This would not be done by the sales person, the finance manager reports cars sold in the system.
Most people take care of you, because you carefully coached them to (strictly against manufacturer regulations,Also not true. Manufacturers will provide each sales person a laminated copy of the survey, and encourage them go over it with the customer. It is against policy to give something to the customer in return for a survey, and the dealership will get hit with a huge fine for doing so.
I've seen people take the rest of the month off when they get hammered with a "5". There is no recovering from it.This is the dumbest thing ever.
You can also use it to fix problems. DO NOT complain on The Survey. This is also false. If you have a service issue PUT IT ON THE SURVEY. That will get it handled easier than complaining to anyone at the dealership.
The general manager fully backed his service department and labeled these perfectly nice and understandably upset clients as trouble makers who could not be satisfied.I don't believe this part either. No GM I've worked for would tolerate such shitty service from their employees.
This entire article is bullshit written by someone who wants you to believe they are giving you inside info, when all they are doing is making up stories.

But they can't post it on the internet unless it is true.

When my dad worked for Honda a few years ago, ALL bonuses were contingent on the entire staff scoring like 80% or better on all their cards.
If my dad sold 21 cars in a month, and 5 of them were qualified for a bonus, and he got 100% score...if another salesman got 50%...my dad didnt get a bonus. If the Finance guys fcked over some folks and killed deals, and the overall score of the dealership declined...no one got bonuses...or anything, vacations cancelled, etc...

Maybe Skia and C5 are just trying to make us believe the surveys aren't that big of a deal when they really are. Conspiracy! :ohnoes: :willy:
:D
Surveys are a big deal, but not like this person makes it out to be. If CSI is drastically below average for a long period of time, you'll lose your franchise. It doesn't impact the sales person like this article makes it out to.

Very true. I am employed in a dealership parts dept. (Nissan) and the customer surveys don't affect us at all; they don't matter much to the sales staff either; to service, the surveys are a big deal. It affects their overall customer service rating, which in turn affects their dealership ranking for service work, and in the long run will affect their bonuses. It only takes one or two hot reports to tank their month.
